Getting down the steep upper part is a bit tricky, and I saw younger people using a stick. Contrary to what they make you believe, you do not need a guide. The track is absolutely clear, the only problem is to find the trail head, which they hide for good reasons. But for sure there is someone standing there trying... More

Make sure you wear appropriate hiking shoes. Bring at least 2-3 liter water per person and clothes to change because it can be quite cold when you reach the top ( you will definitely sweat a lot on the way up)

Climbed this in a small group recently, you need transport (motorbikes best) to take you along terribly rutted roads to the trailhead, and someone really needs to show u where it starts. About 1-1.5 hours up through nice forest before it opens up a bit before the final climb up through the rocky cone to the crater. Was windy as... More

I have climbed this mountain a few times, and this time didn’t get to the top, because one of our group had a fall, and we had to take her down as she had suffered a concussion. So. The message is, don’t underestimate this small mountain, the climb is very hot, and relentless upwards, and finishes with a steep scramble... More

A day trip from Maumere, beautiful and easy hike to the volcano. Easy to find a good guide in the villages on the way.

I climbed mt egon in May. The weather was good and had some nice views from the top. It took me 2 hours to reach the top and another 2 hours to get down. The walking time depends on your physical condition and on where you start the climb. You can start it at the village or have a driver... More

We climbed Mt Egon on 4 September. We are aged 61 and 68 and fit, but only because of walking/trekking and not by working out at a gym or any other activity. The climb was one of our hardest due to the loose gravel and rock which much of the track is composed of. It is steep and slippery both... More

Mount Egon Mount Egon is situated in Sikka District of Flores Island, it’s situated about 1 hour from Maumere, the capital of Sikka district. You can rent a car or motorcycle to go to the mountain because there are no public transportation to go to the nearest village. The public transportation only pass to the trans Flores road, not to...
