Overview
More
Set in a secluded valley between the picturesque village of Séguret and Mont Ventoux, Domaine de Mourchon was created by the McKinlay family in 1998. The vineyard had some twenty hectares of mature vines but no facility to make wine so, using modern technology and high standards, a winery was constructed and completed in 2000. The terraced hillside vineyard, at an average altitude of 350m, is based predominately clay and grey limestone which, combined with a microclimate, gives the location a terroir of unique quality. Careful husbandry using natural and organic techniques – "agriculture raisonnée" as it is known in France – in conjunction with combined traditional and advanced methods of vinification results in a well structured wine with pronounced fruit aromas and strong colours.

We almost didn't make it but arrived just in time to join a special weekly tour hosted by the owner (in English). We started in the vineyards looking at the different grape and viticultural styles. Then into the winery (harvest is underway) for an explanation...More

We stopped by this winery by chance and had an amazing time. We probably tasted at least six of their wines, all the while having a fascinating conversation with the host. The winery does not ship directly to individuals in the US but you can...More

As others have mentioned, don't park your car and at the Séguret and walk up to the winery. It is farther than you think. The drive is interesting and the views exceptional. Once you reach the winery you are treated to an excellent tasking by...More

In a month in Provence this was the best winery visit experience. First because they have great wine, which we bought, and second because Walter did such a great job of sampling the wine for us. This winery is a little out of the way,...More

We had a short overnight stay in Vaison la Romaine (at Hostellerie Beffroi) and only had time to visit one winery so we took Rick Steves' suggestion and so glad we did. We arrived right as they opened at 9am and the very friendly and...More

This our first stop and the lady doing the tasting was bed rude to my husband when inquired about a tasting and her recommendations. The listing on the counter had about 10 reds listed so his question was not unfounded. She the implied that we...More
