It took me 2 hours to hike from the first post. You can now rent a bike to drop you off from Denge to the first post. Saves quite a lot of time and energy. The walk from Denge to the first post is the most boring and steep part of the hike. So except you really like walking up... More

This has been one of the highlights of our journey through Indonesia. We arrived in Ruteng at 2 pm, a waited by our guide Irwan. He took us by car to a homestay in Dengge, where we spend the night. Amazing view there and already a lot of great info from Irwan on Wae Rebo. The next morning we started... More

Great place to stay overnight. You need to be lucky with other tourists. Can get crowded with bigger groups, and the best experience is when you have to village life all to yourself. That's when the local people really open up to you. Take sugar (for the women) and cigarettes (for the men) as gifts for the elderly of the... More

It was not easy to get to, but it was definitely worth the road trip and hike to be able to spend a night up there. I've never seen clearer stars or milky way than up there--fabulous. The people were friendly and were happy to have photos taken.

Back then it takes 3 days to get to the village, it's very remote and deep inside through hills and mountains. Now, it takes 3 hours or more with hiking to reach the village. But you can... More

It is definitely a beautiful village, but very, very touristy. Don't expect to get an "authentic experience" here if that's what you're looking for.

I arrived in Ruteng with the purpose to visit Wae Rebo. I did not make any previous booking with a tour operator in Labuan Bajo or elsewhere and that was fortunate as what I came to realise is that many of those organised trips from Labuan Bajo through Flores have no thought through travel plans . For instance it is... More

On the way do not miss the white sand beach not so far from Dintor! And the coffee, cocoa, clove will wait for you beside the road. Then i spent 3 more days in... More
