In Manggarai you will certainly notice the impressive lingko fields. The most amazing view over a number of these fields is offered at Cara Village situated on a small hill 17km west of Ruteng in Cancar. With their round, spider-web structure, these pieces of land are unique eye-catchers in Manggarai.

Together with my wife, we spent two days trekking across the hills around Ruteng, visiting remote villages, spider web rice fields, living with locals and getting to know the local traditions. It has been an unforgettable experience (we even went with local hunters to catch our dinner!), and that was all thanks to our awesome local guide, Yulianus. He is... More

If you have a private car between Ruteng and Labuan it is nice to see. I hired a motorbike from Ruteng and I enjoyed the ride more than the destination.

Although there are many rice fields in Flores there is nothing else like this one. A large area, set in patterns that look like a spider web. Well worth the effort of going up the short climb, after paying a small fee. There are two lookout points, one a bit lower than the other and the views are good from... More

Do not miss these rice fields when you are in Ruteng or when you are on your way to or from Labuan Bajo (located 17 km before Ruteng). A good point to go up is at a TV/internet tower. There is a staircase and when we were there we had to pay 15k per person (not sure if this is... More

When walking up the hill you will be pleased to see some nice views when reaching the top. Background information about the spinweb ricefield meaning is usefull to understand the way of sharing land by the chief of the village. Good memory and glad we visit this place. However there are more impressive things to see and visit on Flores.

Nice to see, but din't make this topic your goal. It is a long way driving from laoban bajo. 3,5 hours by car. We combined with visit to Ruteng.

These spiderweb fields beling to one large family. Like real spiderwebd they have been ingeniously built. A small 5 minute climb took us to a mountain top with clear views over the paddies. Really nice !

On our way from Ruteng to Labojan Bajo we stopped for the spider-rice feelds. It's quite easy to find, if you use google earth. The farmer who owns the hill asked us to pay IDR 60.000,-- per Person, then we could walk alone up the hill. The view is amazing!!!

Is not really extraordinary view... But it is unique only in Ruteng Flores... Tip: the view is better before harvest time.
