We did the snowshoeing trip with Fjord Safari and it ended with a stop at this lookout. The sight of the fjord was magnificent and the structure itself was intriguing. The glass panel at the end of the platform may not be for those fainthearted, but we loved it. Definitely must-see if you're in Flam / Aurland area.

Fabulous views get a mini bus in flam train station ... we chose to do our own thing instead of going on the the flamsbana train tour cost about 20 pounds in a minibus up to stegastein .the views were spectacular!!!! Well worth it

Definitely one of signature lookout places in Norway. If the weather is nice and sunny, then the views are spectacular. The drive to the lookout point, however, is not so spectacular since the winding road is very steep and narrow, the traffic is heavy on good days during a busy season, tour buses and RV trucks slow down the speed... We drove up the extremely steep and narrow switchback road from Aurland to Stegastein Lookout. The view is pretty dramatic from there. You can see the whole fjord and the little villages below. It's worth the drive if you have a car. You can also get there by tour bus from Flam.

This is a beautiful viewing platform over the fjord and surrounding area, it took 30 minutes from flam each way then they give you 30 minutes there if you book the tour from the tourist office. It cost (approx 500 nok for two of us return- can't remember exactly). We went in winter so there was only 1 other couple... More

We stopped in Aurland to break the DIY Norway in a Nutshell into two days due to the short number of daylight hours in winter. We organised a taxi to take us from the cruise direct to the lookout. It was a damp and cloudy day but the view was still lovely but I am sure it would have been... More

Booked a trip at whilst booking train tickets if arriving on a cruise ship this is easily done and vastly cheaper than booking a trip with the cruise line. Trip was on climbing winding roads passing beautiful scenery The viewing platform is great but the weather was wet with low clouds still good views but would be better on a... More

Must-do when in/around Flam! This was the highlight of our trip. The views of the Fjords from above them are unbeatable. Well worth a trip up there. We almost skipped it and so glad we didn't! You don't have to spend ages up there but seeing the Fjords from above is def a must-do when in Norway! Be aware of... More

Stegastein is a wooden construction protruding straight out in the air. From the glass wall at the end of the walk, you can see Aurland 670 meters below, and the view of the Aurland fjord is stunning. Parking lot, you cannot miss it.
