Once I found the museum, it was wonderful. Signposting is abysmal - take careful note of the map and the position of the building on the south-east corner of Meissnerstrasse/Wasastrasse. It suffers from not being housed in a purpose-built museum. You wander down corridors inside an elderly office block with the exhibits housed in side rooms. But the exhibits are... More

Excellent museum, big and with a lot of different exhibitions on the life at the times of the DDR, showing common usage products and lifestyle, really interesting and well done, there also is a good exhibition of Trabant cars. Easy to reach by train from Dresden

A very interesting Museum that would be even better if there were English translations of captions. The exhibits are grouped in similar items, cars, household equipment, workshops etc. and there is much to see. For those old enough it is interesting to compare styles and designs of Western products. There is a small charge for using a camera. The building... More

Sadly, not being fluent in German was a problem at this museum. Having said that it was an excellent experience with the exhibits on 4 floors of an office block. It had much of the styles and designs of 50s & 60s England. As I could find little date information, it was difficult to relate what I was looking at... More

Our kids like this museum till today. They were happy to see how DDR people lived at that time. They would like to recommend this museum to their classmates. The ticket price was 28€ for 2 adults and 2 kids. Oh... 2€ Was for my camera (for taking picture). Making video is not allowed. Ok. Worth enough to walk around... More

All about DDR in one place There is an example of a Kaufhalle (supermarket) where there are a lot of products. When I went to Dredsen in the early 1980 there were almost no products in the stores not matter the type of store. I would suggest to have one or more stores which shows there were very few products.... More

An old 4-story school packed with memorabilia from 1945-1989 East Germany. Automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, house furnishings and appliances, school rooms, and so much more. A nice little souvenir ship at the end.

This museum is a little way out of Dresden but very easy to get to on the train or tram. Based in an old DDR industrial (?) block it is dedicated to the lives of people who lived in the DDR. Whilst it is impossible to completely ignore the politics and the Stasi's influence on life, this museum has concentrated... More

I took my children to see museum to give them an idea about the country I grew up in. I was very surprised how big it is and very well made. Lots of memories...

I thought that this was a great museum, and I only popped in as I was waiting to get the steam train from Radebeul later. It displayed an excellent account of the history of the DDR from its formation after the war until the reuniting of West and East Germany. But I need to warn you that unless you can... More
