I'm a huge fan of Max Ernst and the museum is definitely worth a visit. My only complaint is the number of his paintings is sparse. Aside from that, there great drawings, collages and sculptures. The museum is a short train ride from Cologne, and then a very short walk from the train station.

So of course: Five Stars! Quite a range of his work here, including some work quite different from that I'd seen before, and I've seen hundreds of his pieces.

The museums exhibits works of the German painter and sculptor Max Ernst. He is categorized as a surrealist. The museum has a permanent exposition explaining his life and the evolution of his work during the years he lived. Next to that the museum also has a great amount of temporary exhibitions which attracts the greater crowd. Like present exhibition regarding... More

I have been round this museum before. To be honest I don't rate Max Ernst that much, but my friends wanted to see the M. C. Escher exhibition which is on just now, so we went round that. It was very interesting to see the exhibits. He was clearly a very talented person. Some of the optical illusions in his... More

The Max Ernst Museum is now running an M.C. Escher Exhibition. The building is nice and rooms are very spacious. Ther is a nice Museum Cafe and the Museum shop is nice as well.

When we drove to the museum, we parked in between the Palace and train station in their parking lot. The sign a mile or so up the road said there were zero parking spots available but when we got there they had plenty. The line was long on the outside of the Max Ernst Museum. They were letting people in... More

I was put out by being forced to pay to see a Tim Burton show I was neither interested in nor rated the work sufficiently to view in the same context as Ernst. To be forced to pay was insulting!

I wasn't planning on going to this museum when I was in Bruhl (I often skip art museums), but when I saw the sign about the Tim Burton, I was intrigued. It was a great exhibit, and even without that exhibit it was a nice museum. Recommend visiting if in Bruhl.
