Set back from the busy main road in a beautiful ancient forest this is well worth a visit. Beautiful surroundings with a beautiful temple setting. Tranquil and contemplative.

The entry way to this shrine is absolutely stunning. Tall cedar trees. Moss covered statues and lanterns. The January sun came through the tree branches and made for the most beautiful pictures. They have a fire ceremony at this shrine, in honor of Mt. Fuji's...More

Tall cedar trees and smaller Japanese stone lanterns lined both sides of the path leading to a huge torii before entering the shrine. The place was serene, with sunlight streaming through the trees, it really calms your soul while you walk towards the entrance. You...More

Maybe it was the tall Japanese cedar trees or the moss-covered lanterns lining the entryway, but this was probably one of my favorite shrines I've been to in Japan, and I've been to a lot! It was absolutely breathtaking and peaceful. I loved the earthy...More

Pretty relaxing and tranquil place in a wooded area. The trees are huge. It was raining so we only viewed the shrine. The shrine is very ornate. Due to the rain, there wasn’t a crowd.

This is almost a 'must see', its a really decorative, beautiful, colorful shrine in a thick grove of huge giant cedar trees but close to the road with ample parking so pretty easy to get to and find. Its a busy shrine with a number...More

If you love old Japanese architecture, shintoism or nature than this is an amazing place to come on a day trip in the Fujikawaguchi-ko region. Mount Fuji has been worshipped for thousands of years and this shrine is one of the oldest. The walk up...More
