Casual day walk, park, boats, lunch

They have a covered over outside area ideal if you are out for a dog walk. Food lovely for a pub. Will return and often do when out walking.

It's boring just a lock and boats 2 pubs and a cafe .pub old and dirty and cafe seriously over priced. It's why the car park is free. .

One of my favourite spots for a scenic, leg-stretching circuit - turn right out the (free, yay!) carpark, walk along the narrow footpath along the canal until you come to the road, pop over the bridge, bear left through an industrial area and housing development, and then pick up the path in a more open expanse with views across the... We walked around by the lock area and had tea in a little cafe then walked along the canal. Lovely to see the boats all moored up and will be back to walk further along the trail

A very interesting place, lots to see with the boats and the lock. Two pubs and a Tea Room which offers very good fayre. Free car park a welcome bonus.

This is a nice spot for lunch or a walk on a sunny day. There is a choice of two pubs and a Wilkins tea room if you fancy something to eat.

A lovely area around the estuary and canal for walking. Lots of boats, free car park 'Daisy Meadow' which leads straight onto the pathway. Great tea room 'The Lock'. Even on a showery day, it was a nice walk!

Visited Heybridge Basin for a half day out. It is always pleasant here and a nice stroll can take you to Maldon (eventually) or past the yacht club the other way. When the tide is in there is much to sea. When the tide is out, old wrecks appear deeply sunk in the mud. A usual plus is the blackberry... More
