This was our second visit and not our last. We have had rides in many locations and have to say that Casagua Horses rates at the very top of the list. Excellent horses that are well cared for and a pleasure to ride are a riding vacationer's dream. However, the real difference is Kay and Esteban. Their love and respect... More

This was our second visit to Painted Pony, the previous visit being 3 years ago. Yet again it was just perfect, our hosts Kay and Esteban were charming, the best you could wish for, nothing is too much trouble for them. They picked us up at Liberia airport on arrival and took us to Tamarindo for the second week of... More

First, I was incredibly impressed with the obvious care and respect that the owners and employees have for the horses. I've gone on several equestrian holidays in the US and Europe and my number one requirement is that the horses are healthy and happy. Well, there is no doubt about that here! The guide I went with had great knowledge... More

Beautiful, healthy, graceful Costa Rica Paso Finos and paints. We really enjoyed the ride, seeing the countryside and the hospitality of the knowledgable guides.

My daughter and I had a great ride here. The horses are beautifully cared for and well schooled. They were safe enough for me (typical mum, had ponies as a kid, now rides a couple of times a year) but not dead in the mouth and sides. Kay was incredibly flexible and kind, getting back to me quickly. Esteban was... More

Thanks for your kind comments, it often is the case with mothers or fathers and daughters, that the parent is helping their daughter to fullfull their dreams. In the last few years it is more and more difficult to find quality trail rides with quality horses. Our horses are comfortable on the trail and at fiestas with hundreds of other... More

Being a regular rider ( I ride English and cowboy dressage ) I wanted a place to ride where I could learn and have a good time. And boy did I find it! I went on a 2 hour morning ride with Estaban and Rojo (my horse) through towns and forests and mud puddles :) Rojo was just amazing to... More

We are always happy to provide private or semi private rides to more experienced riders and well as other rider levels. Matching horse and riders is very important to provide a good experience for all riders. We specialize in small group rides so we can tailor each ride to rider's wishes. Rojo is a great example of a smooth gaited... More

Kay stayed in touch with us regarding our ride so we knew exactly what to expect and where to meet her (we lodged elsewhere). What we didn't expect was the great conversation with everyone on the ride - that made it even more interesting. Kay took great care to explain all we needed to know about riding, since my husband... Our Forest to Sea tour is very popular, but not for rider's with no experience. Because you ride our horses, rather than just going for a ride, it is important to know how to control your horse before attempting to "go faster". Safety is so important because we want our riders to ride for a lifetime. Age is not an... More

I received a quick response to my inquiry about taking my daughter for a trail ride. The owner was gracious enough to pick us up and drop us off at our house for a small fee. The horses were well behaved and well cared for. The ranch is absolutely beautiful! We enjoyed a two hour tour through the "horse community"... More

We booked a last minute ride while staying in Tamarindo. We were feeling a little disappointed with our experiences up to this point- feeling like the tour companies promise one thing and then deliver something else. We had been trying to make the best of it. I grew up having my own horses and was upset by what I saw... More

We are so happy we could make your ride special. It is true you have to ride our horses, not just go for a ride, and we were happy your husband enjoyed Pony Boy. We too are sad about how some horses are treated in many of the tourist trail rides. We enjoy taking a little extra time teaching new... More
