Amazing tower built by one man with two Mason's in eight months. Incredible view from the top where you climb 267 steps of hard oak that are original to the tower. Enthusiastic workers explain the history of the tower and how it made world class lead shot. This is the only one in the world that you can climb to... More

The old shot tower and its gardens is a suitable setting for an enjoyable afternoon tea relaxing in the sunshine. We had Devonshire Cappuccino's with fresh baked scones, strawberry jam and whipped cream. The tiered gardens and abundant bird life made a picturesque back drop. If you are up to the challenge of climbing the spiral stairs to the top... More

A lot of history at the Shot Tower. Very informative staff. Relatively easy and interesting climb up, with great views. I'm glad we visited the Shot Tower.

What an excellent thing to do in Hobart. As we drove out from Battery Point after stuffing ourselves at Jackson & McRoss, we came across this tower, and for a bit of post-brunch exercise, decided to climb it. The $8 admission charge is worth every penny for the view at the top, and the experience. I am over 100kg and... More

Steeped (no pun intended) in history, for here in Tassie, the Shot Tower at Taroona is a must see. Go to the top - you can't help but to imagine the building of this tower, the fabulous views, (all the steps to climb, not one for Grandies (Grandparents) unless they already run up Mt Wellington)... Count the steps with the... More

The information on what a shot tower is for is very interesting and the view from the top in well worth the climb. It's testament to the convicts that build these stone structures and are still in such good condition. The Devonshire tea was delicious.

Spiral wooden staircase will take you to the top and the platforms along the way help those, like me, afraid of heights. The views from the top make it worth it. Very interesting and not too far from Hobart.
