If you think underwater rocks, no fish or plant life, a lot of people, climbing up and down questionable narrow wooden steps for an extra 200p per person, is your thing. This is for you!

We did Joiners Coron Island Super Ultimate Tour with Calamian Islands Travel and Tours on Wed, May 17, and Barracuda Lake was our second stop. The small dock was already packed with tour boats when our boat arrived before 11AM. Our guide announced that our boat cannot get any closer and we have to swim our way here. Boat crew helped everyone go down the boat ladder to the water. Some of us swam while some got pulled by boat crew towards the stone steps. Once on the boardwalk, we then have to climb up and down the wooden stairs single file to reach the platform to Barracuda Lake. The narrow stairs here were built over the rocks, certainly not for the faint at heart, and some steps have old tire treads on them for added safety. Both our seniors (mid-70s) were able to manage the stairs but one of them chose to just sit on a bench when we reached the small wooden platform. To get in the water, one could jump or use the short wooden ladder which have no hand rails. We saw our other senior in the water holding on to a life ring being pulled by our guide and later found her in the shade of a rock overhang, standing on a big rough rock while holding on to the overhang. My family did a little snorkeling here and took videos of the rock formations. When our guide Del noticed we brought an action camera, he joined us and gave us pointers on underwater videos. He suggested that my husband take off his vest and dive next to the rocks while he took underwater videos of him. Del then volunteered to pull each of us a few meters below the surface so we could capture solo videos of us surfacing the water, sort of pretend freediving. Since we were wearing life vests, once he let go, we immediately floated to the surface. I made the mistake of doing a frog kick and it didn't look flattering. Apparently, the thing to remember was to keep the feet together, pointed down, and to not kick. The clear deep waters and rock formations here are indeed perfect for freediving photos and videos. Best to use fins though. We were in the water for about 30 mins before we had to return to the boat. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Just went, looked boring but first stop on trip. Thought it would be boring--WRONG. Like swimming in a hot tub, incredible unique experience! Downside, 20 steps up and down both ways in full scuba gear, Can't be experienced snorkeling. Would do again in a heartbeat!

Truly and amazing lagoon with gin-clear waters and dizzying depths. I suggest to swim and snorkel beside the rock formations since the view from underwater even at 10' depth is remarkable. If you look closely on the underwater face of the limestone rocks you could see shrimp and small catfish feeding on the rock faces.
Our tour guide Harold and his boatmen crew were very accomodating, patient and even entertaining. Some of our family members were very apprehensive in getting into the deep water even with their life vest that 2 of the crew volunteered to be their 1 on 1 "lifeguard" and guided them around the lagoon and even out in the open sea to enjoy the corals and the sea life on the nearby reefs. My family members calmed down after a few minutes and truly enjoyed the experience. We had them for 2 days doing our Coron tours.

This was my third time visiting Barracuda lake. All this time, I thought the Barracuda was a myth. The place was more known for the underwater architecture and rock formations, but I was pleasantly surprised to have finally witnessed the barracuda.

It took about 1.5 hours of just floating around and looking when the barracuda finally showed itself. With enough patience, you can catch a glimpse of it too!
