Old Fort constructed in 13th Century
Dec 2020
During the time of Ganapati Deva (1199-1261 C.E) and his Daughter Rudrama (1261-1295 C.E) capital is shifted from Hanmakonda to Warangal.

Warangal Fort was constructed in 13th Century in the reign of the Kakatiya King Ganapati Deva. This Fort is most famous for its graceful and finitely curved arches and pillars. This fort has four large stone gateways, known as Kakatiya Kala thoranams, which are taken in to Telangana Official Emblem after separate state formation.

Majestic and sad
Dec 2019 • Couples
Warangal fort is a part of the fort where the ruins of an ancient Shiva temple are kept. Apart from the famous Kakatiya thoranams, we can see many pieces of Kakatiya sculpture.
Sadly most part of it was destroyed by the invaders. Seeing such willful destruction makes us so sad.

The magnificent ruins
Oct 2019 • Family
Not truly a fort like Golconda or bidar but rather ruins left of warangal kakatiya dynasty with feminine carvings that are now a reminder of glory of a rich dynasty. Entry fee of 20 is applicable. The temple and fort ruins are placed together including kakatiya keertistamba, damaged idols and pillars of 11-13 th century. The fort walls are too miniscule and surrounding area used for defecation and poorly maintained.

Remembering glory of the past
Jun 2019
Only ruins are left now, which apparently have been collected from the area. Needs a lot of work, including installing of display boards, near giving proper description of each of the pieces and proper maintenance of the area. However it would have been glorious during its prime.

Sep 2019 • Family
This is a historical fort. The fort has four ornamental gates, known as Kakatiya kalathoranam, that originally formed the entrances to a now ruined great Shiva temple. this is the emblem of telangana also.
Nice place to visit..this visiting is helpful to know history of our culture.

It is a nice place to visit but only once. Go only when the weather is good since the place is completely open. Good place for photographers.

Warangal Fort
Jul 2019
We visited this fort during last week of July 2019. The fort spans a very large area and now expect for the outer three walls and a dilapidated huge structure called the Kush Mahal which is now turned into a museum, nothing of a fort exists. The museum has a few sculptures inside and many more strewn outside - facing the elements and vandalism. Further inside we have a large open area which has numerous semi finished sculptures and other amazing stone work. There is an entry fee to this area and it is sad that the archaeology department and the government is neglecting such priceless work. I sincerely hope that some action is taken for the care and preservation of such artifacts as these are also exposed to the elements and have minimal security against theft and vandalism.

Not so great - boring - overrated
Aug 2019 • Friends
Warangal is projected as a historical place and this is one reasons it attracts travellers like me who enjoy stories of the glories. Warangal is a huge disappointment and is over rated as one of the must sees in South india. You'll find out with even the first visit to any of the primary attractions. The best part about the place is the people, you'll see the whole world wanting to help you. The people are a gem from my experience.

There are many more places in South india worth a visit before you can even come down to Warangal in your list.
