Very enjoyable
Sep 2021
Took our 10yr old Grandson Isaac on a Covid delayed visit. It was brilliant, I didn’t think he’d like it but he loved it, as did we. The guy who addressed the group (of 12) was very witty and very knowledgeable. Isaac enjoyed feeding the meerkats and having two owls on his knee, I don’t think he was quite so keen on having Boris the vulture land on his arm to collect a meaty reward. Tea and biscuits at half time. Very good value and I would recommend it to anyone.

Fabulous day out
Aug 2021 • Family
Absolutely fabulous time at the owl centre! I understand that there are volunteers who make the area spotless. It's a very reasonably priced place to visit with of course, owls, but also vultures, parrots, Guinea pigs and peacocks to name but a few.
The highlight of our visit was the show with a beautiful display from Atlas the owl, Pip the kestrel, Boris the vulture and finally Fozzie bear the baby vulture.
Craig who presented the show was very knowledgeable and a born showman. He finishes the performance by answering questions that the audience throw at him.
The best part of going to Kirkleatham is that not only is it within budget, the museum is free entry, but there is a kiosk for drinks, sandwiches etc and then a big park with swings etc for the children.
If you want to leave the owl centre you can return later on by getting a stamp on your hand
For anyone staying in the vaccinity or even beyond I would highly recommend. .

What a great little place. Clean well presented attraction. Animals were well looked after the whole facility was clean. With daily shows educating people on birds from different areas of the globe. Staff were friendly, COVID restrictions apply. A family favourite with affordable prices.

Good Visit With Grandchildren
Jun 2021
£10 for a family ticket was very good value, for which you get to see the Bird show which also has an interesting commentary by the Bird handler, then you can walk around and look at the other caged birds as well as Porcupines, Meerkats and Chickens. Well worth the entry fee, would recommend especially if you have not been before.

A surprise gem
Jun 2021 • Couples
What a surprising gem of beauty. We were staying at Gilsborough Hall hotel and found this absolutely beautiful little village. The grounds are vast with children play area and picnic tables and a woodland trail. The museum entrance is free and tells the history of the steel mining. There is a little gift shop and although not open at present, a cafe. A short stroll takes you to the Owl sanctuary which is also very much worth a visit with a great variety of birds and other small creatures. We noticed the Walled Garden but this wasn’t open although there were people working on it which suggests it may soon be open to the public. A beautiful spot not to be missed.

Great value for money and such a lovely little friendly place. The flying display was so good and interesting and the guy who ran it was very good. We learned a lot even though we have visited many similar places. It is so worth seeing.
