A really interesting and thought-provoking tour covering a wide range of 'automated' musical instruments - ranging from music boxes through to pianolas (with various other weird and wonderful inventions in between) and culminating in a visit and demonstration of the Mighty Wurlitzer. The tour guide was exceptionally enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the subject, really bringing the tour to life... More

U3A Group Visit Shown round this facsinating museum by Roy .An elderly very knowledgeable enthusiast. We were privillaged to attend a Wurlitzer performance by Chris Barber w hich brought back memories to one of our group who recalled seeing it in the Regal Cinema, Kingston in the 1950s. A throughly enjoyable visit.

Today, we were guided around the instruments in this unique museum by Roy, a very knowledgeable, and humorous gentleman. He demonstrated many of the instruments to us with skill, he made the instruments sing to us, I may add we also sang to them with glee. A great time was had by all, rounded of with a real treat from... More

I visited this lovely gem with 2 kids 8 and 11 years old. We had a great time, lots of interesting musical instruments to see and hear. Very educational. The guided tour is about 1 hour long and its great as the guide explains and plays the instruments. Very impressed with the free parking Kids enjoyed themselves! Thx

The museum is situated in a beautiful purpose built building (with tea room) and has a well presented collection of self-playing musical instruments (with places to sit while listening). I enjoyed hearing some of the the instruments demonstrated on an excellent guided tour which culminated in a demonstration of the Wurlitzer, both played at the manuals and from a roll.... More

I've been to quite a lot museums during my stay in UK these years and I have to say The Musical Museum is far beyond my expectation. All the mechanical musical instruments displayed made me wondered how people from 19th century came up with those fanciful ideas to create such innovative pieces and I'm amazed and impressed to see these... This may not be at the top of your list of places to visit. If you like music you'll most likely like this place. Our guided tour (included in the entry price) by Roy was excellent as are all the staff. Finished off the day with a brew and cake from the cafe whilst listening to the 800+ pipes from... More
