It is located approximately 20 minutes away from Quito, at San Antonio de Pichincha. The "Mitad del Mundo City" surrounding the monument includes several restaurantes and folk-lore shops, museums about the mission that measured the Earth, the "Solar Cuture Museom" (with a display of the lates investigations about the real middle of the world), and a Planetarium. Inside the monument is an interesting Ethnic Museum. Youcan shop and place one foot on the northern Hemisphere and the other on the southern Hemisphere.

It's rather unique feeling to be in the middle of the world. I didn't go to the museum an planetarium but there were other things to explore. Worth visiting once in your life )

This place is only good for getting likes on instagram or facebook. In reality it is very boring and uninteresting, and the place is not very pretty. Long trip from the centre of Quito, definitely not worth it.

Variety of really different culture. So many interesting things to see, weekends usually full of typical shows, music and dance. Restaurants which serve typical food and others, traditional and typical shops everywhere, you feel that you are at the Centre of the World, very nice experience, highly recommended.

This place is obviously a tourist trap, and anyone heading there keep that in mind. People say it's not even on the equator, but the equator is 5km wide. Some people get hung up on this but not me. A bus from Terja to here was 40cent each way and took the majority of an hour. You can pay 7.50USD... More

The museum at the actual equator is much more interesting but photos are fun here. Our guide walked us through quickly since there was not much to see here. The history of who picked the spot for the equator was the most interesting part.

I enjoyed my visit in Mitad del Mundo very much. The workers are so friendly, the attractions super entertaining and educative. And the monument... A must see attraction!

Not the real equatorl line. Not the middle of the world. All the experiments conducted there (that are supposed to have something to do with the equator) are fake. Fake egg on a nail etc. The museum was not impressive and it seemed quite deserted. Also - in case I didn't mention - FAKE. It just feels fake. Like Disneyland... More

We visited it quickly, beautiful and very organized stores, we wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the restaurants there.
