The Park is peaceful, welcoming and wild. Hiking there is like hiking in wonderland, the plants, trees and wild life. The STF huts are just in place, not even scratch the harmony. One of the best backpacking places I've been in, highly recommended.

I simply love this place, the vast lake, tall mountains, wild forests and tundra all together. If it is serenity, adventure, challenge or just spectacular view you are after, you will all find it here. And most of it within the reach of 10 minutes...More

Abisko is really a very beautiful location. The hiking possibilities are great on and off Kungsleden, and taking the cable car up provides a fantastic panoramic view of the area.

We spent hours walking around the park and found the scenery spectacular. The Gorge was amazing with the frozen waterfall and river creating wonderful ice sculptures. The "u" shaped valley dominates the skyline and the snow covered hills and mountains make a superb backdrop. We...More

It's true! Stay here three nights and you will see the auroras. We went hunting two nights and the second night we saw an amazing display for a long two hours. Back home (stayed at the cottage in stf turistation) all satisfied only for another...More

Came for the Northern Light but this only happens in the dark. What a better way to walk in the national park during the daylight hours. Enjoyed our walk in the marked path but can be difficult to know where you are going in the...More

On our recent trip to Abisko we took a walk in the National Park. My husband had already done this walk two days earlier and got hopelessly lost and had to retrace his steps to get back to base. So we decided to take the...More

The hotel at Bjorkliden facilitates the tour to the aurora station also.

Hello fellow travelers, I am planning to do a roadtrip to Abisko National Park, either driving up from Oslo up the e6 to the e10 or from stockholm up the e4 to the e10. I am going beginning of May and will have about 2 weeks to do the roadtrip. I will be bringing my tent and plan to camp out in the wilderness off the side of the road when possible. I have two questions: 1. How will the weather be in May? Should I plan for winter camping gear or spring camping gear? 2. I read that some parts of the road are closed off during the winter time in Norway, will they be opened again in May? Will it be safe to drive if I just rent a small car? Any other tips/advice will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

I am not sure about the weather in May, because I was there during December. But verify from the internet how much is daytime there, like how early does it get dark and how long is the daytime there. Right now, March the... More
