Sky station in the clouds!

Travel by open chair lift to the sky station- very eerie with snow covered ground below and just the sound of the wind and chair lift mechanism. We had the dinner which was very... read more

Visited in Nov 2016 on a package that included dinner and trip up to the Sky Station. Dinner was at the Kings Trail Restaurant in the Touristation and was quite nice with three courses including moose. Then a 15 minute walk to the Sky Station base camp where the staff were great. Got our overalls on over the top and... More

Unfortunately when I visited the sky station, it was cloudy and could not see anything. Also, on the way up (lift) there was a snowstorm and I froze to the bone despite the heave clothes.

On visiting Abisko in prime aurora watching time in late October were very disappointed that the Abisko Tourist Centre and the Abisko Skystation and its chairlift were both closed until mid November, despite a notable number of tourists visiting the area. The Sky Station provides a renowned vantage point for aurora viewing but, amazingly, its website make no mention of... More

Travel by open chair lift to the sky station- very eerie with snow covered ground below and just the sound of the wind and chair lift mechanism. We had the dinner which was very nice with just a few other people present. Unfortunately the night we went up we were enclosed in a snow cloud! No aurora to be seen.... More

Maybe this is a great place for Aurora-watchers. My experience was: 20 minutes waiting for the bus that braught us to the chairlift, there I could not get the promised warm polar-boots because the boots were eithter too small (36) or too large (45, 46 - I would have lost them sitting on the lift). So I had to enter... More

It has a restaurant with an amazing view and fantastic terrace. Well decorated with Aurora borealis' photos. You have a lot of souvenirs. The most amazing is the view to the lake

We were fortunate enough to visit Mount Abisko and the Aurora Sky Station on a clear and warm summer's day. The ascent up the mountain on the chair lift took about 15 mins taking in the fantastic views all the way. The Sky Station has a small cafe (we had fika and lunch) with a deck to sit and look... This was an excellent way to spend a few hours. The journey up the mountain on the chairlift is fun, and if there is no low cloud you get a great view from the top. You can really feel the temperature change as you travel up. There is a lovely cafe at the top with a roaring fire and tasty... More

We went to Aurora Sky Station in order to see the Midnight sun, which we did. The tea and coffee they had at the café was ok but not fantastic. They only had sweet biscuits and no sandwiches.

It's a bit of a hassle getting into all the protective clothing, but it's well-worth the wriggling. We opted for the full dinner, pre-lights, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Food was good, especially as it all has to be hiked up there, and the comedy value of seeing a room full of diners drop their forks and make a dash for... More
