Dursey Island is accessed by a somewhat precarious looking cable car located at the tip of the Beara Peninsula. Should you want to cross and explore the island, keep in mind that the cable car does not operated over a couple of hours in the...More

An experience to remember We went to Dursey Island with no expectations. Rugged bleak west coast coast, stalk country side. We left OZ in the middle of winter, so the slight drop in daily temp was not a issue. The cable car, max 6 people...More

We loved taking the cable car over to dursey island! It was fun getting up close and personal with the grading sheep, as we hiked through the landscape. Fun to explore the old ruins and we even saw dolphins surfacing in the channel!

The cable car is a novel way to get out to this beautiful little island which as a family with kids 8-14 took about 4 hours to walk around. There's a shorter walk up the first peak which some decided to do, fewer people do...More

The chance to ride the cable car is a not to be missed experience! When it is windy, the car rocks as it crosses the short distance to the island. Once on land again, take the road for an easy stroll. There are options for...More

Did the Dursey Island Loop walk which takes about 12km in total. It consists of 2 segments - the mountainous route and the low-route. The mountainous route can be considered as moderate in difficulty. It offers an amazing view and as the island is very...More

A great place to get away from the rest of the world and find tranquility. There is nothing there but grass, wind, seagulls and stunning views. And the getting there and back is out of this world on Ireland's only cable car which takes you...More

We went here as a last minute decision and on arriving and seeing how old the cable car looked I had second thoughts! It can only carry 6 people at a time. Each one-way trip takes 7 minutes and with a brief stop at either...More
