Another thing to do on the Sunshine Coast, pay a visit to the Iris Griffith Wetlands. Small exhibit inside the building and boardwalk around the wetlands. Not a large site, so stay was short. However, we did extend it be taking a walk along the trail to Ruby Lake.

If you're into nature this is an interesting place to visit. Many trails to ponds and you can walk all the way to the Ruby Lake Restaurant.

Our visit was disappointing. I would imagine the dry weather has not contributed to the over all experience.

This place was a little gem. The staff were very welcoming and had great knowledge of the local area and wildlife. The activity centre was really hands on and if your children love that sort of thing they will get the chance to see and get a better understanding of the ecosystem there. A MUST GO SEE activity!

We had been told to check this out. Nobody mentioned it wasn't open during the week. We arrived to find a group of children enjoying the facility. When we asked if we could walk the trails and if there was a map, we still weren't told it wasn't really open. We were told that the trails would end up bringing... More

Quick little walk with interpretive signs in the wetlands. Good distance for our 3 year old, but no railing on the edge of the walkway, so hold hands!

Enjoyed the interactive displays, the walking trails were well-kept and the facility has a wide variety of fauna and flora to look at. Went with my daughter's brownie troop and was given a guided tour, and many activities for the girls to to do like cathcing tadpoles in the pond, looking at various bugs and other animals and plants associated... For kids, and learn something about rain forest. A good stop on the way to along the sunshine coast Hwy. But not much to see, washroom was out of order due to lack of rain -- this is an interesting reason, we guess the flush water would be a collection from rain -- eco-friend !

Lovely place to learn about the local flora and fauna, and how to protect the environment. The floating pontoon and the bird-watching hide are good places to see dragon-flies, humming birds, etc.

…..sadly the tree was cut down in the '90's (may be wrong on that date), but this tree started growth around 154AD. Seriously. Stop and take a look. Well done and well worth it…...
