Since we were moved by the film which played a part in our decision to visit Kefalonia, it was fitting that we visited the memorial. it was quite a walk up the hill from Lassi, but well worth it.

My wife has always wanted to go to Kefalonia since she first read the book and then saw that film! We were in the area and so visited this excellent memorial, shame the English explanation board was a bit of a mess and difficult to read but never the less it was worth the effort to go.

We visited this as we were staying two minutes away. The history of it is interesting and the monument is quite impressive. However only visit if you are closely.

Being italian, we were forced by our heart to pay honor to our brave soldiers of WWII. It's a moving story you'll find on spot (really clear panels).

Worth taking the time to visit the memorial and reflect on the terrible things we do to each other in wartime. Walk a few metres Across to the Greek memorial and the old ruin, you will be moved.

One should visit the site of the massacre of surrendered Italian troops by the germans ( as portrayed in Capt Cornelli's Mandolin)also at the bottom of the hill on the Lassi site on the t junc is a small quarry where the Italian officers were shot

Having researched the history behind Captain Corelli's mandolin, we felt we had to visit the memorial and the sites of the massacres. We wanted to honour the memory of the 9,000 Italians who were killed at the hands of the Germans. The Remembrance Day is 24th September. For us it was very moving because we had researched the background before... More

A short stop but a thought provoking site. The Kefalonians haven't forgotten those brave Italian soldiers who lost their lives at the hands of the murderous Germans during WW11. A fitting memorial to those guys. No more to say.

This memorial is a brief but interesting stop. The memorial is well kept and nicely designed. There is also some information available at the site, although this is limited to a few paragraphs about the fate of the division in question. A museum or visitor centre at the site would make this a more rewarding and informative stop
