About
Designed by one of the games best strategic thinkers, Kinloch is New Zealand’s only Jack Nicklaus designed golf course. With panoramic views of New Zealand’s largest fresh-water lake, Lake Taupo and the natural beauty of rugged rural farmland, this world-class championship Par 72 course is a hybrid between a links and a Parkland course although it is often compared to the classic link courses of Scotland and Ireland. The design philosophy behind Kinloch was to enhance the natural environment – and allow the surroundings of the stunning Taupo region to shape each hole. But beware, it’s tough. The only flat lie you will have is on the tee box, so be prepared. Extensive bunkering guards the front of the greens and you’ll have to think carefully of every single hole shot. As Kinloch’s Director of Golf Tom Long states ‘’If you don’t come out of Kinloch mentally exhausted, your scores going to blow out.’’

Excited to play a jack Nicklaus course in Nth Is after playing @ Tara Iti; Teiki; Kauri Cliffs; Te Arai; Wairekei. Very few on the course, lovely warm day little wind but… this course is full of blind holes; looks more like a mogul ski field: greens were like an elephant burial ground (unpredictable and frustrating) we both scored well, but to be honest wouldn’t recommend it to a one time visitor @ A$750 x2

Had a lovely breakfast today served by a very lovely waitress. Good prices and excellent service. Kaiya our puppy had her own bowl of iced water. Thank you!

Simply stunning!

Right from the welcome through to after match food and drink - simply stunning.

The introduction from the Pro was right on point. The practice facilities and the course itself are immaculate. Each player is provided a comprehensive map and description of each hole which is invaluable.

Have played a number of NZ's best courses and I like this one the best (including Royal Wellington, Kidnappers, Wairakie, Paraparaumu Beach)

The information on website was inaccurate, indicated luxurious shower facilities. Unfortunately, changing room without proper amenities. Only 1 shower for ladies and 2 for shower for mens. Lockers were without keys. The club house wasn’t as luxurious as it described. Very disappointing
The positive was golf course was good condition. The green fees with buggy was very expensive $375 per game.

Kinloch Club Golf Course has everything one could enjoy. An incredible golf course ,a magnificent restaurant and superior accommodation.
The pro shop and cafe below are run by the friendliest staff..BUT..they are run off their feet and ridulously understaff. It appears the owner of this wonderful Golf Course simply doesn't care about looking after his staff. The long weekend in kinloch was so busy and the staff exhausted.I have given it a 4 simply because the couple produced delicious food and were charming under such pressure. The owner has had the privilege of been able to establish himself in a beautiful part of New Zealand but his attitude towards the staff and the local community appears remiss. It had the feeling that the owner couldn't have cared less if anyone drove through the gates or not...KINLOCH IS Thriving.what a waste of something that could be amazing and the locals could be so proud of and be especially looked after...
We are not from Taupo .

This golf course is stunning Not pretty like Wairakei bur full of "character". It's more user friendly than Wairakei as you drive your golf cart to your ball on the fairway all the time, not park it way back from the greens because the fairway is roped off.
Every hole is unique, the designs of most holes are outstanding. It's very challenging and not suitable for high handicappers. Opinions will differ but to me it's NZ best course with Wairakei next.

Tom the pro is always a great guy to deal with.

As everybody has said, a very challenging experience. All the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The guys in the pro shop were very helpful, and i really appreciated their guidance on the best way to enjoy the experience. Not an easy course and definitely not for a high handicapper or beginner. A great way to celebrate my 60th. Make sure you get a buggy, and even then expect a tiring game. Im a good putter of the ball and at least had 2 putts per hole. Great views all in all worth a visit. One last thing, the strawberry tart is well worth indulging in.

What a course. It is stunningly beautiful and a real golfing challenge.
The rough is waist high, there are plenty of blind shots and the greens are something else. Bring you're A game and a sense of humour.
We loved it.
The staff were fantastic. Great practice facilities too.

We were fortunate to play this amazing golf course. We were very lucky with the weather and very little wind but chilly. The set up of the course is outstanding and views breathtaking. Staff were very friendly and helpful and course guides invaluable to help with distances given this is the first time played here. We played off the blue tees, lots of blind tee shots and the rough was brutal. Bunkers were good to get out of and the greens superb and fast. What a great experience sadly not matched by good quality golf. Highly recommended if you want to really challenge your golf ability. Awesome experience.

We had a great game of golf at this course despite the incredibly bad scores. Bunkers in abundance, and very hard to avoid, however the amazing views are enough to take anyone's breath away! The pro told us there was plenty of water available on the course, however, we found only one drink station that had water, and it was almost empty. This made the humid conditions even worse, so something the greens staff need to be aware of.
