Exceptional architecture and a great little boutique hotel! Wear shoes that are easy to walk in as the cobblestone can be uneven. Bring a camera!

Great atmosphere here, better than a lot of the water towns that are around this part of China and no entry fee, only thing is avoid the restaurants, there are better just outside this area.

Bars don't open until 8pm, and most even later. Have seen better places with similar style in Wuxi and Ningbo, wasn't really worth the taxi ride there. Maybe just not so suited for a solo traveller.
