Superb place for a complete desert experience. Camel Rides, Jeep Safaris and Quad biking. Recommend an overnight stay in a tent at one of the plethora of desert camps... so you can witness spectacular sunrise and sunset views.

We did both the camel safari to the Sam dunes which are just off the main road and also a jeep safari to dunes a few kms inside the desert. The dunes are not large- you don't see miles and miles of sand, but it is still a fun experience. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trash thrown by tourists... More

The sand dunes are beautiful. We went during sunset and it was great. Clicked snaps, camel ride and kids played a lot in sand. In today's times when we have to look for sand in the cities, this was a welcome experience for the kids. Be careful of the guys who take you on the jeep. Ask them to drive... More

Sam Sand dunes is about 45 kms from Jaisalmer town. In fact this is the biggest attraction of Jaisalmer over the city attractions. There are various kind of desert camps and plenty of tour operators so you will have to research a bit on what you want. Most people do the afternoon to night desert safari ( where operator arranges... More

It's just a quick ride and sunset in the dunes (which are not big) but our camel guide took us for a run on the camel. Almost came off, it was great!

We had a late evening camel safari in the dunes. This was part of the hotel package. As expected, the camel driver Salim offered an extended safari at a premium. We decided to go for it. It was beautiful with the stars just coming up over the horizon and we felt completely isolated from the rest of the world. Its... More

We wanted to visit and were aware of the "tourist trap". It's worth a trip if you are brave enough to mount and ride a camel! The views were good, the camel handlers aged from 5 upwards were friendly and helpful and aware (so far as possible) of the safety issues. Do it once and no more!

We get the best desert experience here. There are Camel rides, jeep safari and also you get the taste of local food and cultural programs. Just few kms on the same road we can see the Sam village which is quite small and beautiful.
