The waterfall at Gullfoss is huge...! A short walk down 50 or so stairs allows you to view the waterfall 'head on'.... you can also walk 400 yards or so along the cliff top to get right on top of the waterfall as it cascades down into the river below. There's a large restaurant and gift shop on site, making... More

Simply one of the most magnificent waterfalls you will see. Gulfoss represents Icelander's dedication to their natural resources as a local woman fought to preserve the falls when some considered them for power generation. There are many vantage points and they are wheelchair accessible. Parking is free and easy to access. There is a small gift shop, restaurant and visitor... More

Took this tour with Reykjavik Excursions. The third stop of the Golden Circle tour. Breathtaking view. Bundle up and hope for sun. You'll be awed.

We stopped here to meet our tour bus for a trip up to the glacier. We after lunch here which was outstanding. The sandwiches and soups they had available in the cafe were the best we experienced on our entire trip. The Gift shop also had the best souverneirs and wool products we seen anywhere, including the shopping district of... More

Only a few miles from the Geyser at the eastern end of the Golden Circle tour, we visited the falls in a hire car which allowed us to visit at our own pace. There are two car parks, a smaller lower level one and the main upper one, which most of the tour buses use. We parked at the upper... More

During my stay in Iceland this is one of the best things I've seen. It's nature at its best. The water is clean and fresh from the glaciers. The visit was part of our Golden circle tour. Highly recommended on your to do list.

It may have been the coldest of the three but it's also the one I enjoyed the most. Brilliant scenery, renovations are currently underway to increase the size of the stairway that takes people from the lower level to the upper.

One of the most scenic and beautiful waterfalls I have seen in my life. Despite the extreme wind and snow and rain we experienced here it was still worth seeing and would brave the same again.

The waterfall was very pretty, but I think because we had seen slightly smaller waterfalls really close up a few days before it meant that Gullfoss did not seem as exciting in comparison. As waterfalls go it is pretty and it might have been different if the lower path that allows you to get really close had been open. We... More
