This Art Deco independent cinema is just fab! Two screens and regular screenings make it a great place to go. Get in early and you might even get one of the sofas! Tea and coffee available as well as the usual treats. Ok the sound isn't that great but not too bad either, and for what you pay what do... More

Lovely little independent cinema. So much cheaper than the chain cinemas. You feel like you're sitting in your lounge watching the film. Sound could be better but definitely worth the money. It's not a rip off in any way.

What a little gem went there for the first time last week it's so cosy like walking into your front room only got to screens but it's small and very clean a hidden gem in the back water

A couple of Sundays ago me and my other half we're thinking we might go and see La La land (we wanted to see what all the fuss was about)! As usual we checked the times out for the Odeon, Cineworld and even the new Everyman cinema when I remembered about the Rio! How glad am I that I thought... More

The Rio Cinema is one of life's little known pleasures, other than to residents of Burnham on Crouch. This jewel of the Dengie Penninsula is a pre-war picture house (1931), originally gas lit and was the last cinema to go electric. The interior has been altered in order to house a smaller studio screen to the rear of the main... More

You can't knock a local business that shows up to date films regularly. Three of us watched Star Wars recently, it cost less than £15 for entry, drinks and a bag of sweets. The staff were friendly and helpful and the whole place was clean. I cannot justify a 15 mile+ trip to a grossly overpriced cinema when we have... More

Brilliant. The cheapest up to date film in a cinema that you can have. Comfy seats. Located in a small river side town of Burnham. cheers.

I visited for the first time yesterday and we were in screen 1. We wanted fantastic beasts and where to find them. The cinema is old and quirky and you can buy some food and drink there. If you take your own they will charge you. The screen was a good size, the seats comfy but the sound was terrible.... More

Love this place. If you don't use it you will lose it and have to pay the criminal prices at a major cinema chain
