An unexpected Andy Warhol 'sanctuary' near the Ukrainian border, in Slovakia

As a fan of Andy Warhol works since 17 yrs old, I have seen many of his shows abroad and was a practicing museum professional, this museum and its exhibition was nothing to shout about. I came to this museum on the way after finding Andy Warhol's parents place at Mikova. That was more of an adventure for me and... More

This is a very unusual museum, some kind of "secret place" for the lovers of Andy Warhol and his epoch. Plan about a half a day to see the exhibition and try to speak with the locals - you will see the enthusiastic proud of the origin of parents of this artist.

Those who love or like Andy Warhol, this is a must visit place as well as those who happen to be in the area. One should not compare with the one in Pitsburgh but we should all acknowledge that this is his family came from and a part of his identity was formed from this remote area of Slovakia.

This is something everybody should see when visiting Eastern Slovakia. I am just said that more isn't done to promote it in the world

The museum has an air (and smell) about it that it hasn't been changed or updated in quite a while, but still it doesn't look terribly worn - there don't seem to be very many visitors. The first two rooms are a bit confusing - all about Andy's relatives, their attempts at art, and random tidbits from Andy's life, but... More

Have been there, with my colleague from Mexico, to show him beauty of "end of the world", as the museum is not in the very well known part of Slovakia. If you like art museums than the Andy Warhol Museum is a must. The museum has a good collection of his art. I was not expecting this to be much... More

Our family was visiting Humenne, where my father was born and we decided to check out this museum since it is easy to access from Humenne. Way beyond our expectations! It is a gem and would like to recommend it to anyone interested in Andy Warhol. It appears to be a well kept secret, even though I do NOT understand... More

Art museums are usually low on the list when my husband and I visit a country. However, we were very interested in the life of Andy Warhol and his effect on the art world. This museum did not disappoint us. We enjoyed the 2 story exhibit as well as the film in the lobby. The museum is directly opposite a... More
