Views to Die For

An interesting place, providing excellent views across Nidderdale, coupled with the quarry, seemingly tiny toys at work in a child's sandpit.

After 30 years living in the miserable south of England, I have returned home to God's Country. Occasionally, we issue visas to some of our southern chums to come and stay with us. Just a few a year, as we don't want too many trippers spoiling the Dales, but we invite enough so that they can act as missionaries when... More

Although quite local to us we had never visited Coldstones Cut until we took some friends last weekend. It really is worth a visit. The walk up from the car park and the very enclosed approach enhances the anticipation. The views both of the surrounding countryside and the quarry when finally revealed are well worth it. The indicators of direction... More

Ventured on this as part of a walk and it was a very pleasant surprise. Worth going to see either as a walk detour, or using the parking nearby.

Amazing idea to have a stone sculpture at 1400 feet high above sea level, genius idea. The views alone are quite breath taking, you feel like your on top of the world. A quarry isn't very exciting for most people but perched up here it really is. The car park is called Toft gate lime kiln car park, just outside... More

A short walk up from the car park and you feel on top of the world! Fantastic views. Great info boards. The best kind of public art.

The climb up is a little steep but not as bad as it looks. It's worth the exertion as the views are wonderful and you also can see into the huge quarry which I had no idea was there!

Park in the small car park on road from Pately Bridge towards Skipton , only room for about twenty cars and its then a stiff uphill walk in open moorland to the great view at the top . To keep you going enjoy a quick look at the lime kilns from the 1800s near the car park and watch the... More

\we had difficulty finding this feature as the post code we had led our sat nav off on a small lane ending up at a private access road. We eventually found it by going through Pateley Bridge and it is just over a mile outside on the left hand side of the road. The car park is quite small and... More
