The church can be reached by transport as well as walking... but I recommend it's best to take transport. The church itself was very beautiful and of course... its main attraction is the Madonna Of Tindari. Interesting story, that one! At the bottom of the hill you can see the beautiful ocean with a pretty sandy pattern. It's just beautiful

We went for a visit around 11 o'clock on Sunday so we were able to attend mass too. You can park your car down the hill and get to the top of mountain by bus (only e1 per person) or if you wish you can walk by foot around 15 min walk, we went by bus as we were short... More

See the black Madonna of course but take in the wonderful mosaics along both walls that tell the story of Christ. The title of each is in the glass above the mosaic. Fine detail by the Italian School of Mosaics. Then there's the old sanctuary around the back. There was a wedding there the day we visited. These Italians sure... More

Tindari can be reached by car or bus. If by car you have to park at the bottom in the free car park and take the very frequent buses to the top, just 1 euro return. The church of the Black Maddona has an interesting histroy but you do need to either take a guide with you or buy a... More

I have visited Tindari, several times. A beautiful church with beautiful views over the sea. You can actually go down to the sandy beach below. There are lots of stalls selling sicilian things. Food and drinks and a walk up you can see all the ancient ruins. A great day out.

Great views in a cute shopping district. Beware of the hours closed during riposo from 12:45 to 2:30pm. While you wait, we ate at the Bar Tyndaris for very good authentic Sicilian food at good prices. Bonus of clean bathrooms.

A friend recommended to visit. We parked at the parking lot which was free of charge and walked up the hill. We were impressed by the beauty of the statue and the sanctuary. The sanctuary is surrounded by these panoramic views of the nature reserve, the amphitheatre and the islands. Highly recommended!

Our tour guide "Federica" was brilliant & we could not have got even a partial understanding of the sites features without her knowledge & presentation. The Santuary is located on the crest of a razor back hill overlooking the local countryside in one direction & a spectacular ocean view on the other side. It has historical links to the Greeks... The cars are parked below and you are bussed up €1 per person return. Lots of souvenir shops etc to get past before the church, beautiful wall paintings and stain glass windows. The views are great too.
