A local beauty, well worth the effort

I go up the falls often to exercise, as do many local people. This is truly worth the visit if your visiting Hobbiton and staying in or around Matamata

Wonderful hike ,amazing views ,it is the biggest waterfall in north island of New Zealand 🇳🇿. There are few steps but manageable, stunning views from the top ...

Beautiful waterfall but you need to be fit. It's a 45 minute walk following the stream to the base of the waterfall and another 45 minutes up hill to the top. But its well worth the hike up to the top where you can see out over the valley. Stunning beautiful and very popular with the locals.

Was a great hike up the hill to the top of the waterfall. Stunning views from the top and many great spots on the way as well. Trek was not difficult and doc has maintained the track well. Toilet at the beginning/bottom was dirty and not clean.

What a beautiful bush walk. Went with wife and two kids, aged 7 and 9. Both of them made it to the summit without any problems. The adults struggled more. Full of breathtaking views, caves, boulders and just natural beauty - this is a memorable walk. Be careful on the decent from the summit as it is slippy, I slipped... More

We had an early morning start, and decided to go see if we could get to the falls before Hobbitton tour. We did not realize it would be 45 minutes to the falls, and 45 minutes back down, but we decided to do it anyways, and well it was worth it. We cannot wait to come back and do the... More

Not far off the road in North Rotorua is this beautiful waterfalls with Kayaker's going down the river and over the smaller falls. Nestled in the woods it's probably a 10 min walk on a good path. If you go further down the trail to the larger falls it's about 25 mins.

This is a great walk. Took about 3 hours there and back. Gradual to start with then gets steep, lots of stairs. Be prepared to get wet at the top. Views awesome.

Stopped here for a brisk hike up to the falls lookout on the way back from Rotauroa to Auckland airport. A great finish to an all to brief trip to NZ. Do before you're 70 otherwise take hiking sticks!

Beautiful walk through the woods to reach the top of the waterfall. Quite challenging in places, but basically simple. Beautiful views and great pictures.
