A stunning piece of nature surrounded by amazing scenery. The glacier is reducing in size but still awesome to see. Take a troll car up as quite a steep walk, no good if you have mobility issues. Only negative feedback is that the whole place...More

My wife and I visited the Briksdal Glacier in July. It's out in the middle of nowhere. Parking is available but is not free. Followed by a short, steep walk up to the gift shop, dining area and the path to the glacier viewing. Troll...More

Briksdal Glacier is an excursion that everyone should do if in the area. We did it with our 6 years old son. Park the car and pay for it. At first you go up to a steep road, but is a small one. Then it...More

I had never seen a glacier before - I prefer warmer climes for my summer holidays, despite living in Spain but this was a truly incredible experience. Apparently much smaller now due to global warming, the glacier is still an incredibly impressive sight. We were...More

The hike up to Briksdal Glacier from the Briksdal Inn is uphill much of the way (maybe 1/2 to 2/3 of the way??) and includes several sets of steps as well as a bridge in front of a waterfall where you will most likely get...More

Briksdal Glacier is a MUST DO if you are anywhere near the area! The largest glacier in Continental Europe. Most visitors choose to ride the train from the parking area part of the way then walk the remaining portion on the paved trail. There is...More

There are several ways to visit Briksdal Glacier, rent a car, attend tour package or by a local bus from Stryn/Loen/Olden. We took the bus from Loen (45 min) and it was only USD $8/person ($61 KR) one way and there were only two of...More

Sorry for this late reply, been on a cruise. My comment would be try to go as far as you can up the hill for a closer view. Even with the trolley we didn't get to the foot of the glacier.
