This is a must Walk for Nature Lovers. We chose the Bus tour to base of glacier from where we walked up to the base of Briksdal glacier. A nice memorable walk which took 40 minutes one way. As an option one can ride a troll-cart on rent . But still the last leg of 10 odd minutes needs a... More

The road to go with your car to Briksdal Glacier is beautifull. It is a narrow road, so if there are driving busses or truckdrivers: be carefull!! When we went there, the weather was beautifull. There are no restaurants on the way to the glacier, but we stopped at a 'wooden cabin' nearby a small campinside aside the road and... More

Arrived on a cruise ship had planned to get the local bus but missed it as we were tendered from the ship priority given to passengers who had booked trips with them. Still not a problem as there are plenty of tours offering trips at nearly half the price the ship was offering. Arrive at the car park for the... More

Take the local bus from the Tourist shop to the Glacier. An easy 30 min walk to the base of the glacier. A great experience.

Most cruise liners arrive in Olden early in the morning and then charge an arm and a leg to get you to this glacier. However a local bus leaves just before 10.00hrs right from the quayside and takes about 40 minutes to get to the glacier for around £20 return per person. We were with Cunard and saved ourselves the... More

The glacier is very mighty and nice. The road from the main road (24 km) is narrow. The cars don't work all day and than you have to walk about 30 min each way.

This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have visited in all my travels. I was taken aback by the surroundings and the magnificence of mother nature's wonders. It is hard to describe what I felt while I was there but it was a combination of peace and awe. I could have stayed there a lot longer... More

The reason the cruise ships come to Loen is the fact that you can easily reach the glacier from this place. After a short ride, you'll get to the parking lot and from here you can take a trolley further in towards the glacier - or you can walk too. The waterfalls on the way is nice. We even saw... More

Amazing, spectacular and breathtaking. Too bad it's getting smaller and smaller. Probably best visited by July-August. The visitor center is very friendly however prices are not. Nevertheless we will return.

After visiting Nigardsbreen, Briksdal Glacier was next on the schedule. We elected to go on foot, initial walk was quit steep, later more flat. The waterfall was most impressive, we actually spend more time admiring the 'fosse' then the glacier. As pointed by others, the glacier is disappearing so expect to see less ice then on shown on most photo's.
