Most cruise liners arrive in Olden early in the morning and then charge an arm and a leg to get you to this glacier. However a local bus leaves just before 10.00hrs right from the quayside and takes about 40 minutes to get to the glacier for around £20 return per person. We were with Cunard and saved ourselves the... More

The glacier is very mighty and nice. The road from the main road (24 km) is narrow. The cars don't work all day and than you have to walk about 30 min each way.

This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places I have visited in all my travels. I was taken aback by the surroundings and the magnificence of mother nature's wonders. It is hard to describe what I felt while I was there but it was a combination of peace and awe. I could have stayed there a lot longer... More

The reason the cruise ships come to Loen is the fact that you can easily reach the glacier from this place. After a short ride, you'll get to the parking lot and from here you can take a trolley further in towards the glacier - or you can walk too. The waterfalls on the way is nice. We even saw... More

Amazing, spectacular and breathtaking. Too bad it's getting smaller and smaller. Probably best visited by July-August. The visitor center is very friendly however prices are not. Nevertheless we will return.

After visiting Nigardsbreen, Briksdal Glacier was next on the schedule. We elected to go on foot, initial walk was quit steep, later more flat. The waterfall was most impressive, we actually spend more time admiring the 'fosse' then the glacier. As pointed by others, the glacier is disappearing so expect to see less ice then on shown on most photo's.

Was a foggy morning, but within the 15 minute drive from the nearby cabin to the glacier the fog lifted. Only charge was the $50kr for parking, has a nice 45 minutes walk to view the glacier. You don't actually get right up to the glacier (we're about 50-60+ years too late, it's receded) Lovely walk on a well groomed... More

After enjoying the scenery en route from Olden. We took the troll car (an open vehicle about 8 people travelling a little faster than walking pace ) .definitely worth doing if you cant walk very well . Such a beautiful area I chose to sketch just below the glacier. My husband walked up the steep path to the glacier. Later... More

We went to see the Glacier in Sept 2016 and we were quite shocked at how quickly it is disappearing. There is a lovely walk up to the Glacier from the shop / Cafe at the bottom, although it is faily uphill and about 2 miles long. For anyone who is unable to walk that far, you can book a... More

This is a very steep climb, took around 40mins, we decided to go straight up to the top. then take photo's on the way back down! Take a rain coat as the spray from the water falls gets you very wet! The glacier is stunning and well worth the climb. There is a very good restaurant at the base and... More
