We visited it a couple if times during our spray at the Ice Hotel. It's a very pleasant 15/20 minute walk along the frozen river from the hotel. There is plenty of information about the Sami culture and their relationship with the reindeers. We found it very interesting. Yes there are reindeer there that you can pet and feed. We... More

Nice little reserve within easy walking distance from the Ice Hotel, with a cosy cafe. Buy a bag of lichen to feed the reindeer: the kids will love it, and so do the adults.

If you have the possibility you have to try the smoked reindeer dellicacy Suovas. We also got to visit the church which is from the 1600-hundreds and we petted some reindeer.

Whilst staying at the Ice Hotel we walked the ten to fifteen minutes to the Sami village. There is a coffee shop and shop on site and a range of displays from tepee's, reindeer, cabins and plenty of reading material and a DVD running to show the relationship between the reindeer and Sami

We came here, found it very interesting and feed the reindeer - were surprised as we were invited to get up close and person in the pen with them to prevent their antlers being damaged by feeding through the fence. We had a great time - the biggest reindeer is the biggest for a reason - talk about being mugged... More

Thank you for your comment. To get the reindeer really close is one of the highlights at ours for many people. And for the reindeer its the reindeer lichen, which is their natural food wintertime. Great you found the exhibitions informative, it is important for us to spread information about Sápmi and the people. Best regards from the Nutti Sámi... More
