The beautiful restored Church street is a living museum I itself but there is also the official museum which has four properties open to the public and is also a must. We started near the modern church and after an initial coffee at one of the several coffee shops/restaurants in the street we strolled slowly down the street reading the... More

The village of Tulbagh is a little piece of history, you can wander down Kerk Straat and imagine what life was like in the early days of the Cape. Anywhere else there would be hoards of tourists but here it was quiet and peaceful and we had the place to ourselves. The setting is spectacular, surrounded by mountains, the village... More

The old Kerk street is just so pleasant a way to spend the afternoon. Fabulous old houses and other buildings with special history of the area.

If you are not into historical sites, let me start by saying that you shouldn't visit this. If, like us, you do, then this part of town will be an absolute delight. Many little museums dot old Church street, all housed in old restored buildings. The restaurants down Church street are of the best in town. I have reviewed some... More

Kerk Street had the most amazing Cape Dutch architecture. We visited Paddagang to check out the art and lovely gardens.

Church Street is quite beautiful and there are so many buildings of note that one needs to stroll the full length of the road from the Information office at one end up to the junction by the new and very modern church that is slightly out of place in such a town

I have found the Vindoux Guest Farm by chance while I was trying to make a weeklong itenerary for my wife and I; and so I was able to see Tulbagh as well. First of all, the Vindoux Gest Farm was AMAZING! -- most romantic getaway I could imagine. The town itself is beautiful and the road you take from... More

One can hardly imagine the destruction caused by the earth quakes during the late sixties. It is such a treat to walk down the old main street and read the history of each restored building and to visit the old church at the end of the street.
