This is a very pleasant place to spend an hour or two. There's plenty of parking, an information centre on Constable and of course Flatford Mill. Be aware you can't enter Flatford Mill. There's plenty of lovely walks and one of the better NT eateries....More

This is a pleasant place to spend an hour or two. The Hay Wain doesn't look exactly the same as it does in the Constable painting but it's close enough. That aside, there isn't anything especially interesting about this spot. There are some pleasant walks...More

We visited on a lovely sunny day. Good disabled parking. Well maintained historic location. Not difficult to imagine Constables painting of the Haywain. Lovely walks by the river. Dog friendly. Cafe offers typical NT food but offers plenty of indoor and outdoor sesting.

After a wonderful lunch and visit to Lavenham we travelled down to East Bergholt and Dedham vale to show our American visitors the relatively unchanged scenery along the Stour. A short (1 hr) visit can give you a brief and yet wonderful insight into the...More

Excellent couple of hours to be had here. Good parking and then a small Constable museum and then down to the river and loch. Very nice area with riverside cafe and a small house for you to go through. 3 country loop walks available. Brilliant...More

What a delightful place to visit. We had a guided tour which really brought Constable's paintings to life as we stood in the places he had painted. There are so many people there that the cafe cannot serve people fast enough. The person on the...More

Park your car for £4 and then it's all free - the quintessential English experience as the visitor learns more about one of our most famous painters. I knew a fair amount about John Constable already but I still found more interesting facts and suppositions,...More

Visited this spot to escape the hustle and bustle and we weren't disappointed, once away from the main buildings we barely saw another soul. For the photographers among us there are lots of opportunities for some photography whether it be scenic views or close up,...More

The small interpretation centre is a very good place to start, especially in helping you to understand why some classic Constable views around the village are now rather different to the paintings. Having enjoyed our stroll around Flatford, we visited the National Trust’s tea room...More

Unfortunately we don't have dogs any more but I do remember lots of people walking dogs. There is an outside eating area but I don't think they were waiting on tables. You had to queue up, for dog years

I would go to Dedham. It is a lovely walk along the river to Flatford. You just need to walk out of the town a little. Stroll along the path beside the river and you will get to the mill. Good luck and have a wonderful day!
