This is a site that is difficult to find as the indications are sparse and it is off a small road. As well, time has had its effect on it as all the constructions are gone from the site. The impact, once you reach this...More

There really isn't anything left of the death camp except a monument and lots of stones with names of people who were exterminated here in 1942-43. It's hard to imagine what happened here but It's good that there is a monument to help us hope...More

The Treblinka memorial is beautifully designed and the sense of all the evil that happened there is palpable. Ironically the forested site is quite beautiful, which makes the jagged stones of the memorial even more stark and ugly by comparison. The museum is small and...More

A visit to Treblinka will bring all kinds of emotions, we had a guide and it is the best way to get round it. What stands out about this place is the scale of destruction caused by the Nazi animals. Around 850,000 people were murdered...More

Unlike Auschwitz this Extermination and Labour Camp was destroyed to hide the atrocities that took place there. It is a very moving place and had a profound effect on my husband and a friend who was with us. The museum provides a good introduction and...More

Even the walk to the Treblinka memorial is ghostly. You follow the path that the real railway line once took to the death camp, walking through a forest of tall, densely packed trees that cut off all sounds from outside, so that you cannot help...More

This death camp was destroyed by the Germans to hide their crimes. The model in the adjacent museum helps you to visualize what was there. The memorial is very well done.

This is mainly a memorial site rather than anything else (much of the small museum is about the archaeological work). I had no idea before visiting what the memorial would consist of, but I now feel it deserves much greater recognition as an emotionally powerful...More

The site is open all the time and is possible to visit without going to the museum. The museum is interesting and does set the scene so to speak.
