The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have lots of info on the types of bats, how bats help us, etc. The best part is the bat cave especially at feeding time. Lots of opportunities for photos.

We had a spare afternoon so we took the bus up the valley from Santa Elena ($1 - 15 minutes ride). The tour is approx.an hour with about 45 minutes talk and 15 minutes with the bats. The talk was captivating, honestly, we sat there and couldn't get enough info about these little creatures and the host is funny as... More

You begin your visit with an incredibly well done lecture on bats, their place in our world, and why people unfortunately fear them. I have rarely enjoyed a lecture more. The actual bat exhibit is small but gives ample opportunity to photograph and enjoy their behavior. it is time well spent.

This small but amazing tour was a delightful surprise. The guide was knowledgeable and the experience enlightening. Even for those who might be squeamish about bats....this will change your view and dispel misconceptions.

I wasn't really a "bat" person until I came on this tour. Going on the tour with Vino- a passionate and personable guide, actually "personalized" the bats. Our family thought this was one of our favorite tours while in Costa Rica- a definite unexpected highlight while in Monteverde. We walked in and realized that it would be an hour before... More

We loved seeing all the different types of bats active in their enclosure and learning about the nature of bats and bat history in Costa Rica!

A great idea for a rainy day! Best times to come are early in the morning or mid-late afternoon. The guy running the place did a great job explaining the different kinds of bats, eating styles, etc. It was very educational: I thought I knew about bats decently well before this, but found out that I really didn't know much.... Who thinks much about bats? You really should! Stop in and see why. Three presentations a day, extremely knowledgeable guide, excellent exhibits. We were astonished and amazed, really!
