    Iconic Beach
Love this beach with it's Iconic Beach Huts, which have huge price tags, one selling in 2016 for $285,000, saying that the beautiful artwork on some of the huts is fabulous. The beach is pristine and I loved the shallow rock pools left by the out going tide which are great to explore. If you fancy a swim there are life guards in attendance,or just kick back you heel and enjoy the sun.

    Iconic Aussie beach
I have seen many photos of this iconic beach but have never been this way until now. It brings a smile to your face. So many cute timber huts all individually painted. The beach is also nice although most people were just there to photograph the huts. There was an owner there painting his hut and he was happy to talk to us and tell us about them. Worth a visit!

Heaps of room, dogs allowed and colourful huts!
This a beautiful, well maintained sandy beach. Well looked for the tourists and locals as this is one of Melbourne's great photo opportunities, The Beach Huts!! If you are new to the area, this is a selfie must. Bring your dog, bring the kids, bring your whole family there is heaps of room on the beach and the water is crystal clear and great for a paddle. All the local car parks have fees, but you might get a space down a side street on the the side of the road.

Brighton Beach is the sea-side playground of one of Melbourne's, most affluent suburbs. It's a good beach, fine for swimming; Brighton Beach is best-known for the bathing boxes. The bathing boxes are colorfully painted; they are popular with visitors, who often take selfies. The bathing boxes are mostly owned by local residents, who use them to get changed, store their clothes and so on while they are in the water. Brighton Beach is well-known for its family background.

We went to Brighton beach in England and this one in Vic Aust. Both the beaches are for show off tourists. This one is full of cigarette butt and discarded plastic bottles. Very filthy.

I can understand why Melbournians like this beach because it is one of only a few options for them. As a visitor it was a bore, with or without a few painted beach shacks. There is nothing to do there.

In mid-November 2022 my sister and niece from the UK arrived in Melbourne to visit me. The first thing they wanted to do - on their way to our home in South Gippdsland - was to stop at Brighton Beach to see the bathing boxes. To be honest, what we found on that beach was a disgrace. Litter everywhere, which clearly had not been cleaned up for quite some time. We picked up a bagful of plastic bottles and other plastic waste. Plus there were multiple syringes. Even used condoms. It was utterly disgusting. The beach was full of what I perceived to be visitors. I'm sure they would have been mortified by the filth and unkempt condition of the beach. And this, in the middle of one of the most prestigious Melbourne suburbs. St Kilda beach is swept every morning. Brighton beach should be similarly maintained - especially when it's promoted as an iconic destination.

What a beautiful part of melbourne
An easy $5 train ride from southern cross station, only about 20-25 mins or 11 stops
Beautiful clean water, sand and shells, fish and a vast array of people
Really do suggest sun screen though

Unless you're coming here for the bathing boxes, don't bother coming here. The sand is littered with seashell debris which makes for a very uncomfortable walk if you're planning to dip your feet in the water. Only good thing I can mention is that there were almost no waves at this beach. You'd be better off travelling a bit further out for a better beach (ie Geelong).

One of Melbourne's best-loved attractions is the brightly colored bathing boxes at Brighton Beach. The bathing boxes are owned by local families. You can't go in, but it's a popular place for selfies. Brighton Beach is one of the best places to go swimming on Port Phillip Bay. Because it's a Bay beach, the water is usually calm.

Wanted to stop on our trip to visit the Brighton Jetty, however even though it looked lovely with all the surrounding cafes etc, just couldn’t get a park to hop out and have a look around.

A good city beach but the council should invest in more parking and not charge so much per the hour.

Brighton Beach is one of Melbourne's best-loved beaches. Because it's a Bay beach, the water is rarely rough. The sandy beach is good for a picnic. Many visitors come here to see the bathing boxes. The bathing boxes are brightly coloured, and local families use the bathing boxes to change into their bathers and store their clothes. Owning a bathing box is a mark of social esteem, the boxes change hands for substantial amounts.
