- Okanagan13British Columbia303 contributionsCascada El Pavon is a beautiful waterfall just outside of Ojochal. From the highway turnoff, it is approximately 2kms to the falls. Like most secondary roads in CR it is bumpy but drivable. Parking is on the side of the road. There is no entrance fee. The hike down to the falls is short and easy. The area is shaded and cool, the water warm and the natural pool inviting.
There is a restaurant and tilapia fish farm across the road from the waterfall called ‘Cabinas y Restaurante Tilapias La Cascada’. We strolled around the fish farm grounds which is quite pretty on its own. Unfortunately, we did not have time to eat at the restaurant. You will be welcomed by the warm, funny and attentive Catherine and her band of regulars. We saw lots of birds, a few canine, the magical waterfall trees and we rested in nature. Booking was easy, Amigos was very professional and the guides helpful and knowledgeable. Felt very Safe and easy for a 50+ female traveling alone in Costa Rica. - KaptrekkerOttawa, Canada85 contributionsBack in 2010, my husband and I booked a day to snorkel with Kumari. It was my first time and I thoroughly enjoyed it. So when I had a chance to go out to Isla Cano with Kumari to snorkel a second time last week, I booked a spot. Although the day started with lots of rain, it did not affect visibility, nor our enjoyment of the sea world. I saw more fish and a big turtle this time out. Kumari attends to all the details, brought lots of food and had insulating tops to keep us warm on the boat and while we snorkelled (thank goodness). This business operator works hard while we play! This was a full day and I can assure you, I slept like a baby that night. The selection was amazing, the atmosphere at the bar was charming, and the owner was so friendly. We had a wonderful experience. I'm glad we had to wait to be seated for dinner at the restaurant, simply so that we could experience this lovely location.
