The day starts with an early morning wake-up call by Gibbons. You can watch them having breakfast together with many hornbills flying in to the big fig tree next to the chalet. And you can frequently spot red-leaf monkeys and their white morph. However, it gets even more exciting at night. Frogs, spiders, lizards and weirdest insect morphologies are waiting at a density of 1 -5 species within a few mintues making a 1 -2 hour walk a pretty good idea about the exceptional biodiversity at THP. All this is guided, spotted and explained by two experts in this field, Shavez and Chun. A must for all who want to see and learn more. Again I am most greatful to Tom from Adventure Alternative Borneo for arranging this.

We drove to Maliau Basin in Jan 2022. We were fascinated with the field centre. The accomodation is off the ground and all the walkways are connected which means you are at eye level with trees . It gave us a great opportunity to observe wildlife. The canopy walk is also worth a visit. We did 2 trails which were very nice. We saw Gibbons, read leaf monkeys, long tail macaque, marble cat, leopard cat, deer, civets, squirrels, lots of insects and birds, lizards etc etc. The list is long. Accomodation and food is good.

It's a nice museum. The tour consists of a movie screening, followed by a tour of the cocoa processing facilities, and lastly a food and drink tasting session. Tip: Get your hotel concierge to call ahead and let them know you're coming; you can walk in but you'll have to wait about 15 minutes for the guide to come in from somewhere else.

I went here with 1StopBorneo Wildlife for a 3 days 2 nights team trip and it was simply wonderful! Before our adventure even started, we saw a Wrinkled Hornbill on the way to Camp Maris. Other cool animals I saw during the safaris were Binturong, Slow Loris, Wrinkled hornbills, Sambar Deer, Muntjac Deer, Wallace's Flying Frog, Reticulated Python, and so much more! There were many unique butterflies around the accommodation as well.

The food provided was delicious, with afternoon tea and fruits included. Lunch on day 2 was by a small river which was absolutely relaxing! River was clean with a lot of fish, some of us also took a dip after lunch.

Although the replanted forest is only 20+ years old, Inikea is teeming with wildlife. It is a great place to chill and unwind as it is remote from the usual tourist destinations in Borneo. Undoubtedly a must visit hidden gem!

There is nothing much to see except for the hot spring. Only a handful of visitors at the time of visit. I would suggest that you skip this place, unless you want to get a soak in the hotspring.

The best dried seafood price in Malaysia. You have to bargain though. The shop could make a box for your shopping to post or if you want to bring home. A lot of batik dress and tshirt on the 3rd floor. Photo shown, one of the best seafood price you could find there

We stayed at Tawau Hills NP for 2 nights. We were picked up from Tawau Airport and they organised transportation to Tawau bus station early in the morning for depature. Transportation, accomondation and meals were included in the price.
We did two amazing afternoon and night walks with Chun and Jolinda. They are highly experienced and passionate about the NP and its fauna and flora. We really enjoyed the time with them and we learned a lot about the primary rainforest in Tawau, about their reseach projects and about malaysian culture and Borneo. During our walks we saw a lot of insects, two tarantulas (at the night walk from far away at the treeholes), giant lizards, different types of hornbills and red leave monkeys.
We also did the Mangrove River Cruise with Chun. This was fantastic as well! We saw a lot of the very rare river dolphins and several proboscis monkeys in their natural habitat and two otters.
Alltogether we really enjoyed our time at Tawau Hills NP with 1StopBorneo NGO. These guys are highly dedicated.
