Fantastic day trip to Sandakan! We had a private tour guide and car who personalised and customised the tour to the things we had prioritised. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and was born and raised in the city. They brought us to an exceptional lunch spot and picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. Couldn’t fault the whole experience! I look forward to going back!

    the tour was awesome!
we spent the day with our guide and driver Ivy, a very cheerful, nice and funny girl who made the day very fun.
we did a lot of activities, the ones detailed in the itinerary, however Ivy was flexible and took into account one of our requests!
we went to a local restaurant for lunch and he recommended us what to eat, he also taught us words in the official Malaysian language.
    we highly recommend the activity!!

This trip was absolutely amazing. Our tour guide Hadi, knew very much about the animals and how to spot them. We were very lucky and saw the oeran outangs in as the recovery centre as in the wild a the the Rainforest discovery centre. We even saw a BorneanGibbon in the wild. It was very beautiful. Hadi our guide, wich talk good English, knew exactly when/where we should go to enjoy the views the most. We enjoyed the trip so much and we really recommend it to everyone. There are enough breaks to go to the toilet and such. And the tour is well spread across the day. We even could stay a little longer in the Rainforest discovery centre because we liked it so much. Again, we recommend this trip very much and it was a 10/10. And thnx Hadi for this amazing enjoyable day.

I came here again recently after the slow reopening post-Covid and was pleased to see that both sanctuaries' sterling work rehabilitating the animals was continuing apace. The bears at the Conservation Centre appeared to be thriving while the orphaned orang utans at Sepilok were the epitome of 'well cared for'. It is depressing that the number of orphaned apes appeared to have increased since my previous visit but their robust physical health gave glimpses of a potentially brighter future. This Tour is highly worthwhile as it combines both adjacent centres and affords one an insight into each one's excellent work.

There were only 5-6 orang utans in the morning feeding time. When we came back at 3pm, none were around. It was a disappointment. When asked a caretaker, he mentioned they were full from eating all day. Then why have the 3pm feeding time???
I came here 20years back where there were more than 20 males and females that came to feed.
    It was a good experience

Such a beautiful hotel, there is a feeling that you stay in botanical garden. 5 mins walk from Orangutan’s center, which is super handy. Fantastic lake view at restaurant area. Food with a twist, which is very rare.
The only weird thing was a service at restaurant. All personal was very friendly but there was something missing, we had a feeling that it was something wrong in the team. Be aware, the restaurant is closed at 2100 and no more service of any kind.

We had an Awesome day with Sepilok Tropical Wildlife Tour. Rasa Ria Resort planned the trip thanks to Ridhwan on the front concierge.

Picked up at 4.30 by private car and taken to The airport port. 45 mins after take off we were landing at Sandakam. Then met up with two other guests from OZ for a packed day from start to finish.

Stop 1. Coffee and local breakfast cake roll thing. And the loo.

Stop 2. Speilok Orang Utan Sanctuary.
All animals are within the jungle. It is you who is controlled and put in little boxes.
You walk on platforms high up within the jungle and stop at observation towers.

Halim, our guide was informative and knowledgeable. Answered all the questions we had. The orang Utans all have names and features that the keepers can tell them a part from.

We started with baby feeding time to go onto the big boys. All fun to watch as they SRAN into action when food appeared.
After a rather warm morning it was off to

Stop 3. the Proboscis Monkeys who are a little unusual to say the least.

Stop 4. Around 1.00 now. Lunch at the Banana cafe. Rather good! Don’t believe all that you read. Some people want the Ritz in the middle of a jungle area! Don’t forget that loo stop!!!!

Stop 5. The Sun Bears also called Honey bears although they should be called horny bears as one climbed over his ares fence and now there is a baby sun bear.

Stop 6. Back to Orang Utans for afternoon din dins

Stop 7. Back to the airport for 4.00 to get the 5.15 plane back arriving home by 8.00 for a shower and evening dinner……..phew!

Expensive yes, approx £220 each all in, cars and flights you can see where the costs build up.

    Worth it……YES.
