Here, on this beautiful monastery inside the mountain, he lived the first years of his life , inside a crevasse into the mountain, transformed by the Benedictine into a church in many levels inside the mountain.
During his life , he started the main achievement , his Rules of Saint Benedict , contains a set of rules for his monks to follow.

There are some resturant and bar just to have sone rest no suggestion to give. - DougthelebaneseguyHenrico, VA154 contributionsSubiaco is the place where Saint Benedict prayed in a cave. Food was lowered down to him. Then they built a church over the cave. It is quite an experience to visit the cave. You can either rent a car or hire a driver which in Rome is very expensive. It is not too hard to find and is worth the effort. If want to have a really cool day on the way back stop in Tivoli and visit Vila D' Este which is the best water show of fountains in the world. Have a late lunch at the fantastic Sabillo restaurant which has a Roman Temple next to it.
