Fascinating museum showing how whalers lived and a replica of the rowboat that Shakleton and crew successfully got to South Georgia in - completely crazy journey. helps to see the actual size of the boat. Lots about how the whalers lived and local wildlife.

Fun to be able to mail postcards from Antarctica. We have heard it takes 6-8 weeks. We can’t wait to hear when people get them.

Antartica will forever be etched in my memory - pristine landscape of treasures relatively unspoilt by us!! The ultimate architecture of glacial vastness, transformed by exploding pieces of icebergs, being freed to be wherever the currents orchestrate.

Sanity prevails, as this continent is free from manmade borders of ownership, protected for future generations, a reminder what our precious home can be when there’s a will to understand the affects of our endeavors on the laws of nature.

I will never tire of seeing ice-bergs, especially those that are small mountain islands or creative forms floating by; some with swimming pools, circular arches…… remembering we see only 10% & in time will be no more.

Thrilled to be checked out by seals, colonies of penguins with their signature scent of anchovies, ‘waved to’ by families of whales. We were lucky to see lone emperor penguin on two occasions being about 200klms north of their usual colony - strolling majestically across ice-sheet.

Seeing unspoilt vastness is a reminder of mother nature’s awesome beauty, calms the soul - a reminder that we are lucky to be able to live in this Goldilocks planet we call home, to use our collective intelligence to look after her for all of us irrespective of politics, religion, country & culture - fundamentally we all want the same for ourselves & our families - to live as one in peace.

Feel privileged to be able to visit this place - a trip of a lifetime with Scenic Eclipse II, a 6 star cruise with 7 star service/experience.

Deception Island is a small island in the Bransfield Strait, 620 miles / 1,000km south of Ushuaia, Argentina. It is close to Antarctic Peninsula but is in South Shetland Islands.

This island is the caldera of an active volcano. Waking up to a rather overcast skies, I went to the bow and took some videos. As we sail into Whalers Bay, the scenery is even more beautiful and tranquil. It did perk me up - for more than two weeks on the ship, I was a little weary.

I would love to go kayaking one more time but it was canceled due to the weather. By 10:20am, the wind was picking up, that forced us to return to the ship earlier than planed.

We had high expectations, for our visit to the white Continent, it exceeded all, we spent 14 nights cruising up and down the peninsula, see amazing sights, doing numerous landings and rib cruising, the highlight was crossing the antarctic circle and circumnavigating James Ross island in the weddell sea which our ship had never done before. All in all the most amazing experience, of all time.

Highly interesting place with interesting sights, great scenery and history.
I liked the museum quite a bit.
And of course the post office.

The place that we made a continental landing on Antarctica. A stark impressive and intimidating place with lots of penguins.

We had a great Zodiac tour to Deception Island. Meeting yet more penguins and having a great view from the hills. Another magic location..

What a fabulous place. I have never seen so many glaciers in one place before. It was touch and go with the fog, sometimes it won and you couldn't see anything, then it cleared and you got fabulous views. No sign of any wildlife though

If you go to South Georgia it's probably because you are a Shackleton admirer. Visiting the grave is a must and very emotional. We drank a tot of whisky at the graveside and remembered one of our greatest heroes. The graveyard can be very icy and slippery and a number of streams have to be crossed or forded to get there.

I was there, when I sailed with my colleagues with the RRS Ernest Shackleton, back to the Falkland Islands.
It was a nice stop over, and to see how our colleagues used to live on a base station in the early days, in comparison with how we live now.

When we were there, the station was used closed for the season, so it was only us and the penguins.

What a wonderful place! Don't ask me how, but it was nearly 50 degrees when we visited and it felt like a spring day. The sky was breath taking blue, the waters crystal clear and the animals everywhere. What a magically place and I'd love to go back and spend more time.

This is one amazing bay, full of floating ice, high peaks, and truckloads of snow, the day we cruised around it was like a mirror.

Antarctica is fantastic and we loved every Iceberg, Glacier, Mountain and Penguin. However, if you are going to Antarctica and are NOT going to Iguazu Falls, DON'T go to Antarctica
