What travellers are saying
- Christian MCopenhagen, Denmark6,223 contributionsGreen Island is a true youth island, where Taiwan's young people sail over to party and have fun. They zip around the island on some of the at least 3 billion scooters, enjoying good cheap food, snorkeling, or shore diving from the rocky beaches.
It's also possible to cycle the 18 km around the island. We did this, but only after thoroughly searching for a rental shop (located 2 minutes from the harbor where you arrive). They had a total of 4 bikes – and that was all we saw during our 3-day stay.
The ride is beautiful and quite hilly. Plenty of water, a sunhat or cap, and sunscreen are essential. The reward is a constant stream of larger and smaller sights. We saw a nice lighthouse, the Little Great Wall (which is a very small version of the real thing in Mainland China), and some hot springs, which oddly felt very refreshing in the overwhelming heat.
The bike ride is highly recommended for anyone in moderate shape. The bikes look like something your grandmother would ride, but they work fine both uphill and downhill. The price is 300 for 24 hours, and you don't need to lock the bike – no one would dream of stealing it.
Remember to withdraw plenty of cash before sailing from Taitung. Many hotels, restaurants, and shops only accept cash, and we never found an ATM that accepted our Visa or Mastercards.
A 2-3 day stay on the beautiful green island will cover most needs.Written 18 July 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Also, you are able to rent a bike to go around this area. I did enjoy being with my family there. BTW you have to pay the entrance fee before you get inside.
你可以和你的家人和朋友享受這個很棒的地方。還有你也可以租腳踏車在這地方逛逛。我很享受和我的家人在這的時光。但這個地方需要門票費Written 17 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At night, the lanterns designed by students were lit up, which made a romantic scenery.Written 29 December 2018This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Edward19890913Taitung City, Taitung6 contributionsThis museum is pretty good. You can see not only the prehistoric civilizations of eastern Taiwan but the diverse cultures of aboriginal peoples. However, its location is really remote from wherever you are. The only way to get there is taxi; otherwise, you have to rent a scooter, which maybe a little inconvenient for foreign visitors.
Also, the architectural style is really..... um......revival? It can be easily recognized that it’s been built for decadesssssss. Not a disadvantage, but a little surprising~Written 4 March 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. It’s great to walk inside the park especially not many people around, quite & peaceful. Apparently, you can also rent bike to fully explore and enjoy the ocean shore & park.Written 30 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Trumpboyer86Singapore, Singapore941 contributions- Located within the art village, there is a actual retired train for tourists to take photo with. You can climb up the train and cannot enter the train's interior.
- There is a souvenir shop with aircon where you can buy cold drinks and local brand items.Written 30 October 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. At least half the stalls are amusement - e.g. shooting balloons - and there isn’t a lot of variety in the food stalls. Plus not a lot of options for vegetarians.Written 29 December 2019This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - David HUnion City, CA8,993 contributionsThe yeliu-like rocky coast is quite unique and magnificent. However, it’s way smaller than Yeliu and not that fabulous. All shops were closed except further inside the park during weekdays. Glad to spend time to walk around and enjoy the natural beauty.Written 23 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - IsabelleTaiwan1 contributionThis is a really great experience to me.My whole family and I went to Pingtung at first, then we took the train to Taitung Beinan Cultural Site. The site is a really big field, and you can run on it and play the swings there. You can also understand the culture of primitive. The only thing that is missing is that the train is not so frequently. So I strongly recommend everyone to self-survice transportation.Written 13 September 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
