Pristine beach with sand that is as soft as silk. It is a great place to go if in need of relaxation. Just be careful and don't engage with people trying to sell you stuff.

We had a great 30-minute tour with Hose, our informative guide, who shared fascinating details about the cave’s history. The entrance fee was $5, and we were the only ones there. We even spotted bats! This is a must-see spot in Varadero. Highly recommended!

Aside from the Varadero Beaches, this place is a paradise! The scenery is gorgeous, the walking trail is a must experience, from mangroves and boardwalks, lizards - some sort of beach iguanas, as well as invasive (but very friendly) muskrats! Don’t worry, they don’t bother you. For those who enjoy searching for seashells, this is your place to go! For those who want to relax under a palm tree, sipping on a pina colada, this is also your place to go!

It was interesting to walk through - Its a nice sized street market - some vendors post their prices - others do not - that may be good or bad depending on how much they like you. Like you'll read another review about them charging a lady 20 pounds for a baby shirt - they did not like her. Probably because she paid in pounds and you get the best deals in Pesos or USD - They will take other currencies but they will chisel you a little on the conversion

The little drink bar in the center will definitely overcharge you if you arent in Pesos and even then its still high

I went to playa coral with scuba libre varadero was picked up from my hotel it was me another diver & our guide.it was a 15-20 minute drive to the dive site.it was a morning dive so not busy with those pesky snorkelers some divers not so many it became a problem when getting in there being one entry place.
Got kitted up then down to the entry point the sea was abit ruff getting in with current fun & games putting our fins on then down we went ,a metre or so to start moving out getting deeper as we went finning like hell to start with 1 step forward 2 steps back but as we got deeper it became nice n calm it became a relaxed dive not very deep 15-16 metres.not a lot to see really nothing I haven’t seen before some large lion fish ,skools of small fish going through n over the coral formations it was lovely.down for an hour made our way back up current getting stronger again lots of fun taking our fins off & getting out.
The site was getting busy but when we were coming back from our second dive after another hours dive a lot more pesky snorkelers about one nearly stood on me godknows how they didn’t see me .

In conclusion the dive site is nothing amazing but it’s a lovely dive site shame I didn’t get to do a night dive on it I’m sure it would be totally different .

Good spot to pick up some rum that may not be available at home - better selection than at the resort store. They offer free samples so you can decide what you would like to buy. Canadian credit card was accepted without any issues. Staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to know their products well.

We spent a lovely couple of hours exploring the reserve. As nature lovers and hikers it was an easy walk and there were lots of different lizards and birds to see. We visited in the morning before it got too hot and only saw one other couple during our visit. This meant we had the trail and caves to ourselves and could stop often to observe and listen. We saw lots of things as a result.
In the two main caves we saw different species of bats but you need to be aware that the cave entrances are low and require some crawling /crouching to get in. Not sure the discarded bones were necessary for the burial ground though…seemed a bit of a gimmick.
You get a small trail map with information which added to the walk.
Other reviews mention the path and neglect; I would advise trainers as the trail is narrow and rocky in parts (like sharp coral) which would be uncomfortable in sandals or flip flops. Also, there are some low level (small) branches and stems overhead that mean you often have to either move them or duck down. Wear bug repellent as there are some boggy bits near the end and you are brushing past vegetation throughout.
We thought it was definitely worth the money if you are lucky enough to visit at a quiet time- would not be as enjoyable with lots of visitors.

Close to our hotel so we went looking for cuban coffee beans. Had no luck as the shelves at the mercado were empty except for booze and cigars. Cuba is having a nightmare of supply disruption of massive proportions . Nice looking mall but empty of people. Bought some great shirts and had a fine latte for real cheap.found some good cuban music cds and enjoyed tasty large lobsters for lunch. A modern wonder for varadero

nice setting for a walk through a scenic park, rental boats available, a nice waterfront bar with the best pina coladas, although they are no longer served in a pineapple. Choice of 3 restaurants within the park. On a previous trip (2018) we chose the more traditional Cuban restaurant (La Campana) tucked away in the back, great food and excellent service. A nice setting for a relaxing meal off the beaten path.

The Plaza Las Morlas inside the Gaviota Marina is well-worth the visit. We stayed across the street at the Fiesta Americana (formerly Blau Marina) so it was easy access. We visited several times. We walked end-to-end and were slightly disappointed that the marina and plaza weren't utilized more. Anyways, we loved it all...Open spaces, water fountains, shops, bars, restaurants, big boats, beautiful views. One night we also walked over and really enjoyed the disco/night club. A very safe, no-pressure, tourist destination.
