This tour was exactly what we were looking for! Our driver was timely and our guide was fantastic. We visited Tulum and learned a ton about the purpose and community that was there. The trip to the beach club was a nice, refreshing and relaxing cool down after the tour. The beach was gorgeous and the water was perfect. The hour ride to Coba went quickly and the restaurant we arrived at was very enjoyable. The buffet offered a wide variety of delicious foods that accommodated everyone’s tastes including yummy desserts. The Coba ruins were super close by and were absolutely spectacular. Our guide gave us detailed information about several of the structures (you cannot climb any of them anymore) and we loved the bike ride through the jungle. A short ride after took us to a very cool underground cenote where we refreshed ourselves after the heat of the tour.
Things to note: bring cash for: tips, drinks at lunch (and beach if desired), bike ride/rental at Coba, souvenirs (there’s a cute place next to the restaurant), and life jacket rental at cenote if needed. We also stopped at a convenience store to get snacks/coffee if desired. Bring a towel, change of clothes, BUG SPRAY (I didn’t realize I needed this for the Tulum portion also and had left it in my bag for the tour), and sunscreen. We kept bags and unneeded things in the van and they were secure with the driver. I highly recommend renting a bike at Coba - it was $4, an easy, flat ride, and cooled us off with the breeze. You can also ride in a bike someone else pedals… it’s $10 (2 people would fit) plus tip. Walking would be a bit brutal and excessive in my opinion as the ruins are a bit apart and that is coming from a regular walker.
If you want a full tour to see each building in either of the ruin sites this isn’t the tour for you. We saw main buildings but there were many we didn’t see… if you want the full experience and to see everything I’d pick a different tour. Doing this many things there just isn’t the time, but it was a fabulous overview and nice day of several cool experiences. I would totally do this again.
