What travellers are saying
- David nManchester, UK4,878 contributions.. to get some fresh air, on each visit we always walk from downtown to Stanley Park and partway around. This wintertime, we passed the totem poles and further around went inland past the Beaver Lake and with the whole area filled with much snow was absolutely beautiful.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - ardis h5 contributionswhat an interesting place to visit. The food market has the most amazing area of fruits and vegetables and berries even in the middle of winter.Written 29 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - FafnerbAshland, OR77 contributionsThe aquarium is outstanding! There is so much to see and the staff are very welcoming and helpful. We were especially delighted with the touch room. Chelsea and Briane, the touch room staff, had so much interesting and fun information to share, and they took note of our interests and expanded on them. We learned a lot and appreciated the opportunity to have some (gentle!) hands on experience with sea creatures. Who knew that gulls can swallow an urchin whole! There was so much to see there, four hours was about right for our visit. One concern was about the mammals there. I know their care meets standards, but it didn't seem like the sea mammals had any "off duty" areas where they could escape the crowds, and we felt bad about the limited range of the monkeys. The sea animals were rescued, but it doesn't seem like the monkeys are. Overall, highly recommend and we'll hope to back for Pride tours in June!Written 8 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - AJ W7 contributionsWent to Van Dusen Garden Festival of Lights on Dec 28th evening. I have attended this event for many years since I chose Vancouver as my home city. To my surprise, I found the festival somehow subdued. The amount of lights and decorations were certainly scaled back comparing to previous years. Most of big tall trees had no lights; some were lit by some form of LED projection lights, which could not make the same effect. I assume it has got something to do with economy, staffing and budget. The festival was closed for two years during covid, and I could not attend the last year because I did not buy the ticket online ahead of time. But I clearly remember it was an extravaagnt setting back in 2019 and before that. So it is sad to see they had to scale down. For example, there were hundreds of lit tulip like plants (made of recycled bottles) before, and this year, except a small section, there was none of that. The lake area in the back was dark. The carousel is not there anymore. The west section of park had some nice decoration. I liked the polar bear and salmons theme in the main pond. The music choice was not very fun either. There was some Christmas music around the garden; the main music for sound and light show which is run every half hour, was just weird, I guess it was from a Disney movie (?) (singing Into The Unknown?) which could not emulate the festive and joyous feel of Christmas. I also found the garden somehow less crowded for a Saturday night before new year, when almost everyone is off work or school. I hope they will not shut this festival down due to lack of $$$. I will attend next year too, and hopefully it will be better than this year.Written 30 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - hngg190Garden Grove33 contributionsThis is similar like Pike Marketplace in Seattle. Getting there was easy if staying downtown near the river. It was a few minutes ride on the aquabus. The market was fill with all kind of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, cold cut and pasta. Everything look delicious. We tried the granola and butter pecan cook at The Stuart Bakery, they were so yummy that we had to return the next day for the. The blueberries bread at Terra Bread was very good. Most pastries and cakes in Vancouver had just the right amount of sugar. They don't leave the sweetness in your mouth that requires water to wash off. The soup and pot pie were great too. I would love to try everything there if I have time and room in my tummy for them. There were many little shops that had unique items as well. I'll definitely come back for more in the future.Written 10 December 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - veggieluv33Marina, CA54 contributionsEasily the most impactful museum I've ever visited. MOA is not to be missed. I was left in awe, shattered, and hopeful. And while this museum features indigenous cultures, art, and histories of this region, they also have extensive collections from across the globe to learn about, also. I look forward to returning to MOA, as it's going to take many trips to see, read, and learn everything I possibly can-it's remarkable, well done, world-class learning. A must visit when in Vancouver.Written 25 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- David nManchester, UK4,878 contributionsYes, downtown Vancouver has the coal harbour area ( near our hotel) and southwards the gastown area but a few (maybe 4 blocks) eastwards there has been a tented area for vagrants which feels threatening (with drugs being openly used on the street). This blight was here when we last visited two years ago but nothing seems to have changed.Written 9 February 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - RobSt. George, UT17 contributionsWe enjoyed walking along the path and exploring sections of the beach along the way. You can also get off and on into Stanley Park which was nice. If you dont want to walk you can rent bikes for a different experience. There were plenty of joggers and roller bladers too. The bikes and wheeled things have their own path so you dont have to worry about getting in someone's way. It is a lovely family friendly experience.Written 14 October 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Usia2014Calgary, Canada1,955 contributionsNot only does Canada Place look impressive for a cruise port but the views are amazing all around it. We’ve taken several cruise ships from here that go to Alaska or down the Pacific coast to the States. On this last trip, they had many displays outside that had to do with the ‘marine life’ in the BC area. It was very interesting.
Boarding the ship was fast and easy because there were only 2 ships in port. Everything went smoothly and efficiently. However, we’ve been a few other times when it seemed that all passengers arrived at the same time and the lines were long in getting processed and going through US immigration. It’s nice to sail into and out of Vancouver because it’s very scenic.Written 29 January 2025This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC.
