The building has an ornate sandstone exterior with richly decorated doorway arches. The interior is a quiet, calm space with less embellishment than other churches, perhaps characteristic of Scottish Presbyterianism? There are some lovely stained glass windows at the front of the church.

Located in the bustling downtown area of Toronto,at the corner of Bloor Street West and Avenue Road, this little church was built in 1871 and is a Neo-Gothic building. It opened on June 15, 1879. Beautiful church, however not overly ornate. Very close to subway. In fact it looks a bit as if the surrounding modern buildings could choke a small church. Worth a visit when you are in the area.

The St. George’s Church, very centrally located, is the first Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto. It is an architectural gem, decorated with excellently crafted Byzantine frescos and woodwork. Well maintained, the Church is also a meeting point for the Greek community, downtown Toronto. Worth a visit for everyone!

My wife and I popped in briefly while in the area and enjoyed the experience. It's a large, picturesque and tranquil building with striking atmosphere.

My family were showing me Downtown Toronto and as we were walking along Bloor Street we saw Trinity Church. It looks like it has seen better days but was surrounded by scaffolding and that there is building work going on which is promising.

Whilst the church is quite large, it does not have the "wow" factor of other but there are some lovely stained glass windows and the whole interior is nicely painted in gentle pastels.

St.Bonaventure is run by Franciscans and is associated with a very good school. Located in a mostly residential area of Toronto, it is packed every time we visit. The parishioners are welcoming and the priests often make a point of welcoming visitors. The choir is particularly accomplished. The choir director is an accomplished musician and runs a tight ship, using an iPAD as the source of music and making sure all members rehearse and deliver the most they are capable of. As a result, the music program is excellent and better than in most other, neighborhood-based churches.

We were here for a splendid performance of Bach's B minor Mass, and we found the acoustics to be very good. The neo-Gothic design is more veident on the outside than the inside, which is a bit of a mish-mash in styles. The church has some nice stained glass.

It was very enjoyable to revisit Yorkminster Park Baptist Church for a concert, this time of works by Nathaniel Dett and Johannes Brahms. The church is an attractive space, though the acoustics are not the greatest. The music was moving and well-performed, with Jonelle Sills and Bret Polegato as the soloists and the choir in fine voice. The opening line of the second movement of Brahms's German Requiem, set to superb music, seems highly appropriate in this pandemic time: 'Denn alles Fleisch, es ist wie Gras / Then all flesh is like grass.'

I had the privilege to visit this church recently. The main purpose of the visit was to go through the Holy Door. The church is really beautiful. However, it was not open to public on Saturday morning. It was supposed to open for the evening mass at 4.30 pm. Fortunately, since there was a wedding that day at 1 pm, my wife and I were able to go in after waiting in the parking lot for two hours.
There is limited free parking available within the premises.
Hope you will enjoy your visit during the Year of Mercy.

Never thought I would review a church but this one deserved a great one. The environment was incredible with lovely architecture and vaulted ceilings, stained glass and upper balcony for the photographer to shoot from. The service was lovely and the reverand/minister an exceptional speaker. They had coat racks right in the front so you could unbundle in comfort. Needed coats in Feb! Also a great backdrop for photos later.

When we travel, we like to visit churches especially if there is history behind the place of worship. We’ve been to Scotland, England, US, and other places.

Here in Toronto there’s this amazing Catholic Church worth visiting and even stopping by for a service. St Mary’s brings history, architecture, and amazing place of solitude to just get away from a busy site seeing schedule even if it’s for a sermon!

Learn about St Mary’s history. Admire the decor, stain glass, statues, and gothic style architecture and take a break from your typical tourist calendar!
