Fun tour and roaming around the Pope and Baldwin estates and land on the shoe of the lake. Self guided and self directed tour for us wandering around the many buildings and land that once belonged to these two wealthy families. Its a fun diversion during the day to get away from the crowded streets and even crowded trails to visit a peaceful plot on the lake.

It’s nice but it’s so expensive! It’s just something that you’d like to try if you’ve never been. It’s like a one time thing for us. We paid $102 each adult and $71 for each kids. We went on a weekend and the line was long, expected.
When you get to the top peak, there’s a food area and that also was an expensive meal as well.
We did enjoy the views during the ride and up the top.

Big surprise! Mama bear with cubs enjoying a fresh Kokanee Salmon lunch. We found mama bear first and the two cubs trickled in. This image was taken where the boardwalk curves around at the open marshlands. Just beautiful! Check Google reviews for full video footage.

This was a wonderful little hike within walking distance of all the of Heavenly resorts. The trail is in great shape - mostly hard pack dirt, but some rocks as you get higher. We did this on a chilly and WINDY October afternoon and it was kind of cool watching the rain coming down on the other side of the lake (but not on us!). Ran into a few other hikers, but not terribly crowded. The waterfall at the top is small, but flowing steadily - very picturesque. Great views of South Lake Tahoe.

We saw Robert Hall perform a wonderful show of magic. We sat in the front row and even close-up his sleight-of-hand and illusions were impressive. His presentation was engaging and entertaining. Highly recommended!

Being rather out of shape, instead of taking the "steep" hike down from the highway parking area to the castle (if you could find a parking spot), we took the boat tour out of Camp Richardson to get there. It was a beautiful home and the docents provided an excellent tour and history of the property, architecture, and furnishings. You even get a little free time to explore the parts you are most interested in. From the castle, the visitor center has an archival video and photographs that were very informative. The lower Eagle Falls are a very short and easy hike from the castle and were a bonus feature we hadn't been aware of beforehand. The only detriment was that for the public, there are only pit toilets available onsite. Some women had issues with that, so be prepared if that is important to you.

What a wonderful added adventure to a visit to Vikingsholm! Short hike to some beautiful falls. Trail located behind the visitor’s center. Once on the trail, go past the bridge and continue up on that right side. We arrived to the parking lot early at 8:00, no problem parking! By the time we left at 11:00, cars were waiting for open spots.

Epic hike, worth the effort!! Memorable trail with breathtaking heights & view! Dress in layers bring at least 2 L of water per person and sunscreen and definitely start as early as possible, plan for a minimum of six hours on the trail. Don’t forget to bring snacks too! Terrell has lots of sun exposure. Terrell also has lots of rocky sections where hiking shoes and be prepared to scramble at the top.

Some of the best sunsets are seen from here! Lunch & dinner at the Beacon is always a plus. Try the 'Rum Runners'!

The Rubicon Trail is one of the best long trails in the Lake Tahoe area. The hike could start from Eagle Point in Emerald Bay State Park and go all the way to Calawee Cove in the north over a distance of about 7 miles (oneway). The trail wraps around the Emerald Bay and provides gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe the whole way. There are several intermediate access points to get on the trail. Water is available at campgrounds along the trail, though it is insurance to carry water, especially on hot days. The trail is very well maintained and easy to follow. At the north end there is an alternate trail that goes by the old lighthouse; be aware that this section is a pretty steep climb.

Even just a small part of the Rubicon Trail should be on the 'must do list' for any nature lover. It is an awesome trail with breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe.

Many are missing out on the joys BEYOND the falls. Don't think this is your end destination - it's just the beginning. Locals know to continue hiking up the road/trail to Lily Lake... then, beyond that, Glen Alpine Springs which was, for a short period, a late 1800's era retreat for the San Francisco elite looking for the closest thing to a Fountain of Youth. You can almost hear John Muir (one of its famous visitors) singing the praises of the "soda water" that bubbled from the ground. The "falls" are just a taste of what awaits - and well worth the slow, deliberate drive (which is only about 15 minutes, really). Enjoy your day!

We had so much fun! My husband debated bringing our fishing gear to Tahoe and I talked him out of it and convinced him to try this with the kids. The kids each caught a fish which just made their day- it was so exciting and didn’t take long. Everyone was very nice and they gave the kids a lesson when they cleaned the fish which was neat. Their is one local restaurant that you can drop your fish off at and then you can come back for dinner and they prepare it for you. The whole experience was very memorable for us and the kids. And we do fish regularly but still found this to be fantastic memorable experience.
