It was on my to do list as a recon specialist for my friends and finding good spots for them to visit when they are in Nelson. It's a pretty cool museum and art gallery to visit and kill about an hour of your time in Nelson. I learned a little bit more about my area of the Kootenays and I would highly recommend this place to friends.

We return time after time with amazing exhibits of local artists. The gift shop is my go to for taking gifts afar when visiting family and friends. Well worth the time to visit, tucked away by the Duokhibor Museum. By donation.

There was a special showing of artwork by the Blavin family, including beautiful glass works and B&W Photos by Ryan, colourful paintings by his father Hal, and also painted historical B&W Photography by his grandfather.
Great stuff and we really enjoyed our visit to this peaceful spot.

This is a good place to take visitors to explore local arts and crafts and check out anything that might be happening in Golden during their visit.

We found this place to be chock full of artistic treasures, including glassworks, paintings, and ceramic jewellry. Ryan Bavin gave us a thoroughly entertaining education on the art of glass blowing and many other subjects. In the end, we walked out with a few pieces of his beautiful glass art.

I am so fortunate that Beth is such a generous person. I am currently helping a young refugee woman to improve her English. We are creating small fabric art scenes representing BC & also her home country, Through the process, we practice speaking, reading & listening.
I am able to use this art medium due to classes that I studied with Beth a number of years ago. The space I am teaching in, that Beth has donated to me is very inspirational with samples of many styles of art. At the last session of tutoring, I saw fabric purses that were being created in a class Beth has been teaching to young children. Beth believes that all is possible no matter the age. This group was being challenged to put a zipper in their purse. Even a 6 year old.
Want to learn, go to the Art Barn, no matter your age.

Stopped in to get a few chocolates and was surprised by the variety of in house made chocolates. We left with six and now we are sorry we bought so few. Excellent flavours, sorry we didn’t try their in house made ice cream as well. Next time we’re in Nakusp we will return.

Try and go when the new gallery opening event is on. It happens every month! This is such a great gallery and the community garden and bee sanctuary is right out front.

What a unique shop! We found many games that appeal to teens, adults and kids, and unique gifts. NOT a typical touristy shop at all…worth a drive…so much fun
