It is easy to be distracted by the highly publicised other museums in Portsmouth Dockyard, and this hidden gem is a little further out, by Southsea Castle.
We started in Portsmouth at D Day Museum before crossing to Normandy on the ferry to Caen, and are so glad we did.The museum is very well laid out, informative and has the amazing tapestry of D Day on display.
